Features

You can use document integration in the Business Package for Common Parts to display documents for objects. The documents can be stored in Document Management (CA-DMS), in SAPArchiveLink (BC‑SRV‑ARL), or in both of these.

Information "No Document Exists" is displayed.

You can display documents from the personal object worklist or from the technical structure view:

  • Displaying documents from the personal object worklist

    You are working with objects (maintenance and service orders or maintenance and service notifications). You can display the documents for the objects directly from the personal object worklist or from the detail view for the objects.

  • Displaying documents from the technical structure view

    The technical structure view displays all technical objects (functional locations, equipment, and materials) that must be edited. You can also display detail data and documents for the object.

ArchiveLink Documents

In Customizing, you have made the settings for ArchiveLink documents under Start of the navigation path SAP NetWeaver Next navigation step SAP Web Application Server Next navigation step Basis Services Next navigation step ArchiveLink. End of the navigation path

It is particularly important to set the fields for the document class and the object type. These settings ensure that the documents can be displayed in the browser.

DMS Documents

In Customizing for Document Management , you have made the basic settings required for document management. To do this, choose Start of the navigation path Cross-Application Components Next navigation step Document Management. End of the navigation path

  • Maintain Control Data

    You can, for example, define the document type in such a way that the original files are stored in defined storage systems (content repository) via Knowledge Provider.

    When you are defining the link between a document of a particular document type and the object, you define the relationship type (for example, 1:n for the relationship between a document and the material master record).

  • Maintain General Data

    Define, for example:

    • Workstation applications that are used to edit the original documents (for example, files with the extension GIF)

    • Storage systems that are used as secure areas for the original files

    • Profiles that group together proposed values and default settings for the editing of original documents

Display of Documents Outside the Firewall

The functions for ArchiveLink documents are only available inside the firewall.

You can use the Business Add-In (BAdI) DOCUMENT_WEB02 to display DMS documents outside the firewall.
