Processing Characteristics This report determines and stores the values of the processing characteristics for certain loans. Processing characteristics are indicators that provide information about certain properties of a loan contract. This includes information about the disbursement status or the status of capital amounts, future flows to be posted, or business operations for the loan. You receive the information by way of the values for the processing characteristics, for example the processing characteristic
Disbursement Status
can have the values
Not disbursed
or
Partially disbursed,
among others. The value of a processing characteristic for a contract is unique at all times. Processing characteristics provide you with a quick overview of the status of the loan.
You have to initialize the processing characteristics once when you upgrade from a release below Enterprise 2.0 to the current release.
You also need to use the report if:
Loans have been transferred to or changed in the position by means of the external data transfer. You have to initialize the processing characteristics for the new or changed loans by updating the planned records, or update the changed loan using the
Processing Characteristics
report.
You have used your own programs, which can affect the values for the processing characteristics of a loan. Note that the processing characteristics are only updated by SAP standard transactions. If you are using in-house development or programs that are not from SAP, you need to check whether these programs can affect the characteristics. If this is the case, you need to enhance the programs concerned so that they can determine the processing characteristics. Alternatively, after executing the program you can use the
Processing Characteristics
report to check the processing characteristics and update them if differences are found.
After you have initialized the processing characteristics you also have the option of displaying the current processing characteristics for the loan from within the loan contract itself.
All of the standard applications that you use to change the contract or flow data of a loan update the processing characteristics.(For example, the processing characteristic
Disbursement Status
can be changed using the function
Disbursement.
) This update cannot be guaranteed if the change has been made using your own program.
If you upgrade from a release lower than Enterprise 2.0, you have to initialize the processing characteristics before going live. In the application, you have to update the planned records for the whole position using the function
Update Planned Records
.
You also need to initialize the processing characteristics if you had already activated them in your previous release.
After the planned record update, you have to use the
Processing Characteristics
report to check for loans that still do not have processing characteristics.
If this is the case, you can determine the missing processing characteristics directly using the report.
In addition to the company code and the contract number you can use other selection criteria in the area
General Selections
to select the loans for evaluation, such as product type, status, or contract currency.
In the area
General Selections for the Processing Characteristics
you can display loans by selecting the values which match the values of the processing characteristics for the loans you want to display.

If you enter the value
3: Fully Disbursed
in the
Disbursement Status
field and the value
3: No Remaining Capital and No Effective Capital Exists
in the
Status of Capital Amounts
field, the system displays all the loans that are fully disbursed and repaid.
If you do not enter any values, then all of the loans are displayed with their characteristics. The following processing characteristics are supported:
Disbursement Status
The
Disbursement Status
processing characteristic provides the user with information on the disbursement obligation and the value-dated capital for the contract. The value for this processing characteristic is determined for a contract according to the capital amounts based on the posted flows and the flows protected by a rollover. You can choose the following values:
1: Not disbursed
Disbursement obligation > 0 and value-dated capital = 0
2: Partially disbursed
Disbursement obligation > 0 and value-dated capital > 0
3: Fully disbursed
Disbursement obligation = 0 and value-dated capital > 0
4: Withdrawn
Disbursement obligation = 0 and value-dated capital = 0
5: Value-dating planned
The loan has not yet been disbursed, but a planned value-dating exists (disbursement or capital reposting).
Status of Capital Amounts
The
Status of Capital Amounts
processing characteristic provides the user with information about the remaining capital and effective capital in the contract. The value for this processing characteristic is determined for a contract according to the capital amounts based on the posted flows. You can choose the following values:
1: Remaining capital exists
Remaining capital > 0
2: No remaining capital exists
Remaining capital = 0 and effective capital > 0
3: No remaining capital and no effective capital exists
Remaining = effective capital = 0
Status of Planned Records
The
Status of Planned Records
processing characteristic provides the user with information on the cash flow, and flows for the contract that still require posting. The value for this processing characteristic is determined for a contract on the basis of non-posted flows in the cash flow. The system only determines the processing characteristic in the expiry phase of a loan.

The expiry phase of a loan describes the last period in the life cycle of a loan. The period begins when the loan is fully disbursed and repaid. A loan is fully disbursed and repaid when there is no disbursement obligation and no more remaining capital for the loan, based on the posted flows.
You can choose the following values:
1: Planned records exist
The cash flow contains non-posted flows.
2: No planned records exist
All of the flows in the cash flow are posted.
Status of Customer Receivables
The
Status of Customer Receivables
processing characteristic provides the user with information on the receivables listed for the customer and the contract. The value for this processing characteristic for a contract is determined on the basis of open items for the customer in the contract. The system only determines the processing characteristic in the expiry phase of a loan. You can choose the following values:
1: Not relevant
The product type is not posted to customer accounts.
2: Open receivables exist
Open receivables exist for the customer and the contract.
3: All receivables cleared
No open receivables exist for the customer and the contract.

For loans belonging to a product type that is not posted to customer accounts, the processing characteristic always has the value
1: Not relevant.
Status of Customer Payables
The
Status of Customer Payables
processing characteristic provides the user with information on the payables listed for the customer and the contract. This characteristic covers advance and overpayments, refunds and payments to third parties. The value for this processing characteristic is determined for a contract on the basis of the open items for the customer in the contract. The system only determines the processing characteristic in the expiry phase of a loan. You can choose the following values:
1: Not relevant
The product type is not posted to customer accounts.
2: Open payables exist
Open payables exist for the customer and the contract.
3: All payables cleared
No open payables exist for the customer and the contract.

For loans belonging to a product type that is not posted to customer accounts, the processing characteristic always has the value
1: Not relevant.
In the
Processing
section you can choose between the following processing options:
Display Processing Characteristics
If you flag the field, the system displays the processing characteristics for the selected loans.
Flag the field
Hierarchical List.
The system outputs the processing characteristics per loan in a hierarchical sequential list. If you leave the field empty, the system outputs the processing characteristics in a simple list.
Loans with Indefinite Characteristics
If you flag this field, the system updates the indefinite processing characteristics for the selected loans. An indefinite characteristic is a characteristic whose value cannot be determined directly when a loan is changed or when postings are made to a loan. This is because the information needed to determine the value for the processing characteristic is only available after the change has been posted. You therefore need to update the processing characteristics at regular intervals.

In order to do this, you require authorization for the processing characteristics (authorization object FD_CHARAC) for activity
66: Update.
If you select the field
Update Indefinite Characteristics,
the system updates all of the indefinite processing characteristics that are not current. With large positions in particular, you have the option of dispensing with the output of the detailed log. If you leave the field empty, the system outputs a detailed log of all of the loans concerned, and you can update the loans individually.
You can improve the system performance during the update by selecting the
Parallel Processing
field. If you wish, you can carry out the update in parallel, in the framework of a server group, on different instances using the remote function call (RFC).
Loans without Characteristics
If you select the field you can initialize the processing characteristics for the selected loans. You have to process the data when external data transfer is used to import a loan into the system. The processing only considers loans that do not have any processing characteristics.

In order to do this, you require authorization for the processing characteristics (authorization object FD_CHARAC) for activity
66: Update.
If you select the
Determine Characteristics for the Loan
field, the system updates the processing characteristics directly. With large positions in particular, you have the option of dispensing with the output of the detailed log. If you leave the field empty, the system outputs a detailed log of all of the loans concerned, and you can process the loans individually.
