Instructor/Tutor 1.41

Technical name: com.sap.pct.erp.instructor.14.instructor

Use

The Instructor/Tutor role is assigned to employees in the SAP Learning Solution .

The tasks of instructors or tutors consist of both overseeing a course and the direct support of learners during the course. Instructor and tutor can be regarded as one role or they can be implemented as separate roles. For example, an instructor conducts a classroom training course but is supported by a tutor for the technical aspects in the assigned learning room (for example, classroom or in the virtual environment).

The primary tasks of an instructor are to prepare, conduct, and follow up the course. The primary tasks of a tutor involve supporting the instructor and the learner while preparing for and conducting the course. The tutor can also offer advice and information to learners.

Instructors and tutors are often the first contact person for learners. They must therefore be informed of all aspects relating to a course.

Special Features of the Tutor Role

Typically, a tutor is not an employee of the training department. As opposed to instructors, tutors are not required to be present during the entire duration of a classroom training course. They can function as tutors for multiple courses at once. Tutors can also be booked as learners in other courses at the same time. In certain cooperation scenarios, the tutor can also be booked at the same time as a learner on the same course. For example, this might be required to access the collaboration room of a third-party provider.

Tutor Activities

The tutor’s activities include:

  • Before the course

    • Assist the instructor in preparing the necessary information and training materials.

    • Make information about the content of the course available for learners who are interested in booking participation.

    • Assist the instructor in managing course participations.

  • During and after the course

    • Take care of short-notice participation bookings and cancellations

    • Assist learners in finding additional information about the topic and offer advice about additional learning materials and further reading (by e-mail, for example).

Note Note

In further references to the Instructor/Tutor portal role, the name instructor is used with the same meaning. Note, however, that the role and tasks of instructors and tutors are not necessarily identical. For example, tutors are not responsible for following up courses.
