Internal Status of Objects
Use
When you use objects in a leasing document, status changes to the financing item result in transitions for the objects. The Object Integration Framework (OITF) controls all transitions of the object, therefore determining its life cycle.
The system uses the OITF to ensure that only objects that are actually available can be used in a lease transaction. At the same time, the system ensures that the same object cannot be used in two different lease transactions.
SAP provides the transitions for objects. For more information, see the Implementation Guide (IMG) for Customer Relationship Management under Master Data → Products → Objects → Object Integration Framework (OITF)
The system does not change some of the transitions automatically. You must enter these manually. On the CRM WebClient UI, you can integrate the transaction Change Internal State of Objects in Leasing in the Toolbox area . See also SAP Note 993315.
On the CRM WebClient UI, you view the internal status of an object at header level in the master data in the Show Business Data assignment block.
Prerequisites
You have made the necessary settings in Customizing for Customer Relationship Management, by choosing Financial Services → Leasing → Checks → Other Checks → Activate Status Checks for Objects
Features
An object in leasing has a life cycle that can be modeled using various internal statuses.
The following figure shows the possible statuses of an object:
Transitions
Available for Leasing (initial status)When you create an object and enter it in a leasing document for the first time, it has the internal status Available for Leasing . If the internal status of an object is Available for Leasing , you can lease that object.
LeasedWhen you use an object in a lease and incept this lease by choosing the action Incept Lease , the status of the object changes from Available for Leasing to Leased . In this case, you cannot use the object in any other contract. When you select the object in another contract, the system displays an error message stating that the object is already in use.
Various subsequent statuses can be assigned to the object, depending on which change process you execute for the lease:
SoldYou end a lease with a terminating change process without the return of the leased object: Early Buyout Purchase at End-of-Lease The internal status of the object is changed from Leased to Sold when you release the terminating contract. An object with the status Sold cannot be used in any other leases.
Not Yet Available for LeasingYou end a lease with one of the following terminating change processes with the return of the leased object and want to re-lease or sell the leased object by Remarketing (you have set the status Remarketing Requested for the financing product): Early Termination with Return Termination with Return Bankruptcy with Return Repossession Rollover Lump Sum The internal status of the object is changed from Leased to Not Yet Available for Leasing when you release the terminating contract. This status was created to deal with the normal case, in which the leased object has to be inspected – and possibly repaired and/or enhanced – before it is reused in remarketing.
You have to change the internal status of the object manually in order to process it further.
Available for Remarketing in Leasing
Unlike other transitions, this one does not take place automatically within the OITF .
As soon as the object has been inspected and the object can be released for further use, you have to manually change the internal status from Not Yet Available for Leasing to Available for Remarketing in Leasing . To do this, you use the function Change Internal State of Objects , which you can integrate in the Toolbox area on the CRM WebClient UI. For more information, see User Interface and Roles . This status means you can re-lease the object with a new lease or sell it with a leasing-specific standard order.
If you re-lease the object in a new lease, the internal status of the object changes from Available for Remarketing in Leasing to Leased when you release the contract.
If you use a leasing-specific standard order to sell an object, the internal status of the object changes from Available for Remarketing in Leasing to Sold when you release the standard order.
No Longer UseableWhen you execute certain terminating change processes due to damages because the leased object was stolen or damaged, the status changes from Leased to No Longer Useable when you release the terminating contract: For example, Early Termination Due to Insurance Claim . This status means you can no longer use the object in other leases.
No Status Change Certain, non-terminating change processes do not require a status change because the changes do not directly affect the status of the object. For example, this is the case for the following processes: Base Lease Extension Restructuring
Cancellation
You can cancel every leasing transaction. When you execute a cancellation, the system changes the internal status of the object accordingly; it reverses the status changes, resetting the object to the status it had prior to the change.
You execute the Early Buyout change process and the object has the status Sold . You cancel the purchase and the system resets the status of the object to Leased .
You can also use the transaction Objects: Change Internal Status to reset the internal status of the object from Available for Remarketing in Leasing to Not Yet Available for Leasing .
