Remarketing

Use

Remarketing involves two different processes, which you can apply to returned leased objects at the end of a lease.

The following remarketing scenarios are available in leasing:

Re-Leasing

In the re-leasing process, an object that was already leased once is leased again. To do this, you create a new lease contract that uses an object that was leased previously.

Sales

To sell a leased object, you create a standard order that has been configured specifically for leasing ( Sale of Leased Asset , transaction type LETA ), using an object that was leased previously.

Normally, leased objects that are re-leased or sold within remarketing involve a different sold-to party than the original lessee. The former lessee returns the leased object to the lessor, who inspects it and stages it for the next customer, after making any necessary repairs. As a result, a certain amount of time can lie between the end of the first lease and the follow-on re-leasing or sales process.

Prerequisites

The following prerequisites have to be met in order to remarket a leased object:

You can use the remarketing scenario only together with objects. The number of objects that are the subject of a lease in remarketing must always equal one. Furthermore, remarketing is possible only for objects that have already been leased at least once – that is, objects that have already been the component of a lease.
You used one of the following terminating change processes (with return of the leased object to the lessor) to end the lease in which the leased object was originally used:
- Termination with Return
- Early Termination with Return
- Bankruptcy with Return
- Repossession
- Rollover Lump Sum
  
  Remarketing is not possible for any other change processes.

You have manually set the internal status of the financing product to Remarketing Requested in the terminating lease quotation or the certificate of acceptance, but in any case before incepting the terminating lease.
When the certificate of acceptance is created for the new leasing document, the internal status of the object is changed from Leased to Not Yet Available for Leasing . Before you can use the object for remarketing, you must change the internal status of the object from Not Yet Available for Leasing to Available for Remarketing in Leasing by choosing Change Internal Status of Objects in Leasing.

You have made sure that at least one day lies between the termination of the previous lease and the next lease (with the new lessee). This interval between the documents is based on the assumption that the leased object has to be inspected, and possibly repaired and upgraded, before it can be used again.
