Creating a Reusable Definition

Context

You use this procedure to create a Reusable Definition to reduce redundancy. You can reuse a Reusable Definition across several rulesets within a project.

Procedure

  1. In the Rules Navigator view, choose Common Definitions .
  2. Create a term.

    If the term remains constant during runtime

    Fixed Definition

    If the term varies during runtime

    Variable Definition

  3. Enter a name and return type for the definition.
  4. Choose OK .
  5. If you want to assign a value to a definition, select Graphical Access.
  6. Choose Set Value .

    If the value of the definition is constant

    Set Static Value

    If the value of the definition is variable

    Set Dynamic Value

  7. If you want to add symbols and functional operators to a definition, select Graphical Access below the assigned value.
  8. Choose Add Expressions .
  9. Save the changes.
