Additional Details

While running EWM as a decentralized warehouse management system, you can do the following:

  • Receive replicated master data (for example, materials, batches, or business partner information) from an SAP ERP system into an S/4HANA system used for decentralized EWM operations

  • Receive inbound deliveries, outbound deliveries, and posting changes from SAP ERP and send the results back to SAP ERP

  • Receive expected goods receipts for purchase orders and production orders, and create inbound deliveries based on the expected goods receipts

  • Connect to other SAP systems like SAP GTS, SAP TM, SAP BW, SAP BW/4HANA, SAP Yard Logistics, and SAP APO

  • Model your warehouse by using EWM warehouse elements like storage types, staging areas, doors, etc.

  • Manage stock on product, batch, handling unit, and serial number level, and map the stock to objects related to SAP ERP like plants and storage locations

  • Use the EWM Material Flow System (MFS) to control automated warehouse equipment

  • Perform physical inventory and update SAP ERP in the case of stock mismatches

  • Create ad-hoc deliveries and inform SAP ERP about their creation and execution

  • Receive production orders from SAP ERP, save those as production material requests (PMR), and send the execution results back to SAP ERP
