Handling of Mixed and Multi-Warehouse Scenarios

With this feature, you can handle mixed and multi-warehouse scenarios within one road freight order in the Advanced Shipping and Receiving process in Transportation Management (TM). If a truck driver has to deliver goods to or pick up goods from several warehouses within a company's premises, you can provide the truck driver with detailed information about these warehouses.

Additional Details

The following features are available:

  • You or the system can define warehouse loading stops or warehouse unloading stops with exact information about the warehouse number, loading point or unloading point, and warehouse door that the truck needs to drive to. The loading point and unloading point represent a group of doors where goods are delivered or picked up.

  • You can define a loading point or unloading point in master data as a location, allowing greater control over where trucks load or unload goods.

  • If you have a warehouse where you use two different application components to manage two different parts of the warehouse, for example, Stock Room Management (STRM) and Extended Warehouse Management (EWM), you can organize your loading and unloading activities in detail by deciding which warehouse door or loading point is used by which component. You can do so using the Assign STRM Doors to EWM Doors or Loading Points app.

Effects on Existing Data

You can do the following in a road freight order:

  • You can insert a warehouse loading stop for a loading stop or warehouse unloading stop for an unloading stop using the Insert drop-down menu in the Overview section.

  • On the new Loading Details or Unloading Details tab pages in the Overview section, you can manually change the warehouse loading stops or warehouse unloading stops. The information on the tab pages includes, for example, the Warehouse Number, Warehouse Door, Warehouse Category, and Stop Origin.

  • Under the new Advanced SR tab page for a product, you can see the planned and actual details for warehouses where a truck has loaded or unloaded goods. This includes information like the Warehouse Number, Warehouse Door, and Warehouse Door Status.
