Additional Details

The following functions are now available in Freight Order Management.

Use of Auxiliary Packaging Materials

You can now use auxiliary packaging materials in the business documents of Freight Order Management, such as freight orders or consignment orders. For more information, see the What's New document for Auxiliary Packaging Materials.

Enhancement of Error Handling Function

The error handling function has been enhanced by a business add-in (BAdI) to add your own error categories (see below under Effects on Customizing). Furthermore, the new /SCMTMS/TOR_RETRY_ERRORS report is available. With this report you can automatically resolve document errors in freight orders that have been solved in the meantime without opening and retrying each freight order manually. You can, for example, resolve errors to an unknown consignment order that is now available in the system.

Creation or Update of Consignment or Freight Orders Based on Inbound Messages

You can create or update a consignment order or create a freight order automatically using an inbound message via EDI, such as an advanced shipping notification (ASN). For more information, see the What's New document for Creation or Update of Consignment Orders or Freight Orders Using Inbound Messages.

Assignment of Consignment Orders to Transportation Units

You can now assign a consignment order to a transportation unit (TU), such as a container unit or trailer unit (see below under Effects on Existing Data). As a prerequisite, the TU must contain a transportation stage that corresponds with the stage of the consignment order.

External Package ID

If the vendor sends you an external package ID, you can enter it in the business document in addition to the package ID.

Batches and Serial Numbers

You can now store and display information about products, such as batch information and serial numbers, in business documents. You can also transfer this information to the inbound deliveries or receive them from the outbound deliveries.

Enhancement of Handling Execution Status

You can now set the handling execution status values Checked Out and Not Checked Out at stop level for business documents such as freight orders, freight bookings, and consignment orders. You set the Checked Out status after the goods have been unloaded from the truck or loaded onto the truck and the documents of the truck have been checked. The truck itself is also checked to make sure that, for example, the doors are closed.

If execution is tracked with SAP Event Management, the Checkout event is sent automatically to all assigned freight units and the business document.

You can revert the Checked Out status if, for example, you have selected it by mistake. The system sets the handling execution status back to Unloaded or Loaded.

Advanced Shipping and Receiving

For more information about the new Advanced Shipping and Receiving process, see the What's New for Advanced Shipping and Receiving.

Effects on Existing Data

You can now insert a consignment order into the item hierarchy of a TU, for example a container unit, based on an ID, an external ID, or a selection. You can do this on the Items tab page of a TU using the Insert dropdown menu.

The External Package ID field has been added to the Items tab page of the freight order, consignment order, and freight unit.

The Batches and Serial Numbers tab pages have been added at the product level of a freight order, consignment order, and freight unit.

Effects on Customizing

The following BAdIs have been added to Customizing for Transportation Management:
  • With the BAdI: Addition of Categories for Error Handling BAdI you can add your own error categories to the Transportation Order business object, in addition to the standard error categories.
