Status Editing for Incident/Accident Log EntriesThis process provides a release process for incident/accident log entries. By using the status, you can document which processing status each incident or accident has.
SAP supplies a basic status network with the standard system. You can extend this network to include customer-specific statuses when you set up the system. To do this, you must create user statuses. The point in the status network where you can insert user statuses is between the statuses IP (In Process
) and CO (Conference
). With user statuses, you can include in the standard status network the individual steps your company defines in the course of accident processing. For more information on setting up statuses, see Status Management
in Customizing for Industrial Hygiene and Safety
.
Assign the initial status.
The initial status CR (Created
) is the starting point for the release process. The system assigns it when a new incident/accident log entry is created and saved.
Start the release process.
You start the release process by choosing from the menu. The system then switches the status from CR (Created
) to IP (In Process
).
Switch to the next status
Choose . The system then switches to the next status in the status network sequence. The status sequence is shown in the table below.
When the status CO (Conference
) is reached, you can either switch to the status CL (Closed
) or switch back to the status IP (In Process
) by choosing . Resetting the status to IP restarts the process from the beginning again. If you have defined a user status network, this is also worked through again.
Caution
When you assign the status CL (Closed
), the data record can only be displayed and can no longer edited. However, you can still delete the data record.

The Handling the Status Switch
Business Add-In (BAdI) is available in the IMG for Industrial Hygiene and Safety
. The BAdI is called before the status switch and enables you to perform follow-on activities, such as checks.
