Notification by E-Mail
Use
You can configure user management to notify users about specific events by e-mail. For example, when the administrator creates a user account an e-mail is sent to the user informing him or her that an account has been created.
Features
- The system provides you with the following function-based placeholders for e-mail addresses:
- Admin
Use this placeholder for a central e-mail address for all administrators.
- System
Use this placeholder as a default e-mail address when no other e-mail address is available.
- Workflow
Use this place holder to sort notification e-mail to the administrator, by the sender address.
You configure these placeholders when you configure e-mail notification.
- Admin
- The table below summarizes who receives e-mail notification from whom and when. The e-mail address the system uses for recipient and sender is based on whether an e-mail address is defined for the user or the placeholder (Admin, Workflow, or System). The system checks the list in order and if it finds an e-mail address for the user or placeholder, the system uses the value it found for the sender or recipient. Without e-mail addresses for the sender and recipient, the system cannot send an e-mail. For example, if an administrator creates a user account and the administrator does not have an e-mail address in his or her profile, the system cannot send an e-mail informing the user that an account has been created.
All notification events are enabled by default.

* When the system attempts to find an administrator, it searches for a user assigned to a role, which includes the UME action UME.Manage_All. If you are using SAP Enterprise Portal, the system searches for a user assigned to the role User Admin or Super Administration.
- The system sends e-mails in the language of the receiving user. If no language is defined for the user, the system language is used.
- To improve system performance, the system sends e-mails asynchronously. Programs do not need to wait for the SMTP server to respond. Instead a separate processor handles the sending of e-mail. You can disable this feature.
