Drag & Drop Function

Use

You can use the drag & drop function in Manager’s Desktop to:

  • apply the functions from the function tree to objects in the area of responsibility on the right side of the screen

  • edit objects or structures within the area of responsibility

Note Note

Note that you cannot use the drag & drop function if you are using a web GUI user interface layer. In that case you can use the alternative functions described below under Other Editing Functions.

End of the note.

Features

There are three ways of using the drag & drop function:

  • Drag & drop from right to left

Select one or more of the objects from the organizational structure that is displayed on the right of your screen using the left mouse button. If you want to select more than one object, press the Control button at the same time.

If you click on an object and hold down the left mouse button, you can carry out one of the functions from the function tree by dragging the object to the function.

  • Drag & drop from left to right

Select one or more of the objects from the organizational structure using the left mouse button.

Select one of the function icons from the function tree and, while holding down the left mouse button, drag it to one of the selected objects in the organizational structure.

In the same way, you can drag the function to an object that has not been selected. The function concerned will then be executed using this object as a key, regardless of any future selections.

  • Drag & Drop for Moving Organizational Objects

Within the Employees , Organization and Costs and Budget theme categories, you can use drag & drop to move organizational units, positions or holders (employees/persons or users) in the organizational structure to a position under another object in the structure. Select one or more objects with the left mouse button and then, holding the left mouse button down, drag the object(s) to the new position.

Note Note

The circle with the line through it indicates that the organizational object you want to move can not be moved under the object you have selected.

End of the note.
