Making Mass Changes to the Inspection Setup

Prerequisites

  • You must have edited the QM-specific data in the Quality Management view of the material master.

  • You can activate an inspection type under one of the following conditions:

    • If it is not stock-relevant

    • If it is stock-relevant and at least one active stock-relevant inspection type exists

    • If it is the first stock-relevant inspection type and no inspection stock exists, or if you set the indicator Activate despite insp. stock

  • When you deactivate the last stock-relevant inspection type, there must be no inspection stock for the material. To do this you must post the inspection lot quantities out of the inspection stock.

  • The following functions are active only if you have set the QA08 Enhancements indicator for the business process Inspection Master Data Processing in Customizing under Start of the navigation path Quality Management Next navigation step Basic Settings Next navigation step Maintain Settings at Client Level End of the navigation path :

    • Search via the plant-specific material status and the batch management requirement

    • Activate Inspection Type tab, Set Preferred Insp. Type indicator

If you set this indicator, the Preferred Inspection Type indicator is set for the selected materials in the inspection setup in the material master record for the specified inspection type.

If the indicator is already set for a different inspection type with the same origin in the inspection setup for the material, the indicator is deselected in the other inspection type.

    • Deactivate Inspection Type tab

      • Inactive Inspection Setup

If you set this indicator, materials with inactive inspection settings for an inspection type are selected.

      • Delete Inspection Setup

If you set this indicator, the selected inspection settings for an inspection type are deleted.

If you also set the Inactive Inspection Setup indicator, the inactive inspection settings for an inspection type are selected and deleted.

  2. Select the materials you want to process. You can make the selection by using the plant, material, the material type, and the material class.

    Activate Function via Tabs:

Using the tabs, you specify which function you want to execute.

When you select a tab, you activate the function. This is made clear by the green icon preceding the tab title.

If you set this indicator, the materials that do not yet have an inspection type defined are also activated. The settings for the inspection type are taken from Customizing.

      • Activate Despite Insp. Stock (only in the activation function)

If you set this indicator, inspection lots are created automatically when you activate the first stock-relevant inspection type to avoid stock inconsistencies between QM and MM. The inspection type is taken from Customizing.

If you do not set this indicator, the inspection type for a material is only activated if no stock inconsistencies will occur between QM and MM without the creation of additional inspection lots.

      • Do Not Display Material List

If you set this indicator, the system immediately activates the inspection type for all selected materials when the program is run. You do not see a list of the selected materials.
