Customizing Settings for QM in EWM

Use

The following describes Customizing settings in SAP Extended Warehouse Management (SAP EWM) that you must make for quality management (QM).

Basic Settings for QM in SAP EWM

  1. Generate a version for the required inspection object type (IOT) (see Inspection Object Type).

    To do this, in Customizing for Extended Warehouse Management choose Start of the navigation pathCross-Process Settings Next navigation step Quality Management Next navigation step Basics Next navigation step Generate Inspection Object Types VersionEnd of the navigation path and choose the Generate New Version button. Note that this version is cross-client.

  2. Activate the version and review the assigned properties and the sort order (level) for the IOTs.

    With the generation of the version in the previous step, the system assigns all possible properties to the new IOT version. Verify the properties and delete the properties that are not used in your process. The Version and Warehouse Number properties are mandatory for most IOTs. The Inspection Process property is mandatory for inbound inspections.

  3. Select the Activation of Inspection Object Type checkbox.

    To do this, in Customizing for Extended Warehouse Management choose Start of the navigation pathCross-Process Settings Next navigation step Quality Management Next navigation step Basics Next navigation step Maintain Inspection Object Types VersionEnd of the navigation path.

  4. Define number ranges for inspection documents and for items or samples.

    Create a number range for each IOT and a number range group for each item type in Customizing for Extended Warehouse Management under Start of the navigation pathCross-Process Settings Next navigation step Quality Management Next navigation step Settings for Inspection Rules Next navigation step Define Number Ranges for Samples and ItemsEnd of the navigation path.

    Execute both activities in the following ways:

    • Define the number ranges by choosing the Maintain Groups button and then the Create button. Enter a group text and a number range interval and save.

    • Assign the number ranges to the inspection documents by creating a new entry, for example, number range SIOT1 with number range interval 01. When saving, you will see a success message.

  5. Define the item types.

    You define the item types in Customizing for Extended Warehouse Management under Start of the navigation pathCross-Process Settings Next navigation step Quality Management Next navigation step Settings for Inspection Rules Next navigation step Define Item TypesEnd of the navigation path. You create a new entry and enter the name of the item type (for example, ITEM_01), and enter the software component, object, and process. Furthermore you must enter the number range interval for the item number range.

  6. Activate the required IOTs for your warehouse numbers.

    You activate the IOTs in Customizing for Extended Warehouse Management under Start of the navigation pathCross-Process Settings Next navigation step Quality Management Next navigation step Basics Next navigation step Warehouse-Dependent Activation of Inspection Object TypeEnd of the navigation path. You create a new entry and specify the warehouse number and the IOT. The system validates whether an active version exists.

    To activate the IOT at the warehouse level, select the Activation of Inspection Object Type checkbox.

    Enter the number range that you created in step 4.

    Enter the item type that you created in step 5. Note that you may need to restart transaction SPRO.

    In the Follow-up Action Delivery field, enter the point of time in your inbound process when the system automatically creates an inspection document, from one of the following:

    • Inspection Planning Not Relevant in Delivery

    • Inspection Planning at Activation of Delivery (default setting)

    • Inspection Planning at Status in Yard

    • Blank – the inspection document is created at goods receipt posting

    Note that this field only applies to the IOT where automatic inspection document creation is possible.

  7. If you work with IOT 4 (quality inspection product or batch inbound delivery), define whether acceptance sampling (see Acceptance Sampling), goods receipt control (see Goods Receipt Control), and production in presampling (see Presampling in Production) are active.

  8.   9. Define the indexes for the search for inspection documents, samples, and items.

    For each index, you define the properties that the index is to include. You make these settings in Customizing for Extended Warehouse Management under Start of the navigation pathCross-Process Settings Next navigation step Quality Management Next navigation step Basics Next navigation step Define Indexes for QIE ObjectsEnd of the navigation path.

    Your index should have the VERSION and LGNUM fields in positions 1 and 2, and then the fields belonging to the key of the inspection document.

    If you accumulate inspection documents by product and batch, you create an index as follows:

    1. VERSION

    2. LGNUM

    3. PRODUCT ID

    4. BATCH

    If you have one inspection document for each inbound delivery (that is, no accumulation), you create an index as follows:

    1. VERSION

    2. LGNUM

    3. DOCNO

    4. PRODUCT ID

    5. BATCH

Optional Settings for QM in SAP EWM

  1.   2.   3. Integration Settings for QM in SAP ERP

These settings are relevant if you want to use the QM module in SAP ERP for IOTs 4 or 5.

  1. Define a code group containing usage decision codes for accepting and rejecting usage decisions: Use catalog “3” (Usage Decisions).

  2. Set up the inspection types.

    Set up an inspection type for each process (for example, presampling in production or inspection at goods receipt) where you want to make the decision in QM in SAP ERP. In SAP ERP, you set up inspection types in Customizing for Quality Management under Start of the navigation pathQuality Inspection Next navigation step Inspection Lot Creation Next navigation step Maintain Inspection TypesEnd of the navigation path. You create a new entry and enter a description. You enter Selected Set for Usage Decision and select the Selected Set Must Be Available in Plant checkbox.

  3. Assign the inspection types.

    For inspections that are triggered by an external system, QM in SAP ERP delivers the inspection lot origin 17. Select this inspection lot origin and assign your new inspection types from the previous step.

    In SAP ERP, assign the inspection types in Customizing for Quality Management under Start of the navigation pathQuality Inspection Next navigation step Inspection Lot Creation Next navigation step Maintain Inspection Lot Origins and Assign Inspection TypesEnd of the navigation path.

  4. In SAP ERP, maintain the default values for the inspection types in Customizing for Quality Management under Start of the navigation pathQuality Inspection Next navigation step Inspection Lot Creation Next navigation step Define Default Values for Inspection TypeEnd of the navigation path.

  5. In SAP ERP, activate the event type linkage in Customizing for Quality Management under Start of the navigation pathEnvironment Next navigation step Tools Next navigation step Communication with Quality Inspection Engines Next navigation step Activation of Events for Transferring QM Data in Procurement Next navigation step Event Type Linkage for QM Data in ProcurementEnd of the navigation path (transaction SWETYPV).

    Select the entries for object type BUS2045 and the following events:

    • CREATED

    • CHANGED

    • CANCELLED

    • RESULTRECORDINGSTART

    Select the Linkage Activated checkbox in the form view.

  6. In SAP ERP, implement the Communication Technology Determination (QPLEXT_COMM_TEC) Business Add-In to switch to using queued remote function call as the communication technology.

    The coding for the Business Add-In (BAdI) can be found in SAP Note 1278425 Information published on SAP site.

  7. Activate business transaction events.

    For the presampling in production process in SAP ERP, you need to select the Activate Application checkbox for application QBEXTP in Customizing for Quality Management under Start of the navigation pathEnvironment Next navigation step Tools Next navigation step Communication with Quality Inspection Engines Next navigation step Activation of Events for Transferring QM Data in Procurement Next navigation step Activation of BTE ApplicationEnd of the navigation path (transaction BF11).

  8. Perform standard Customizing for QM in SAP ERP, for example, task list usage.

Example

The figure below illustrates an example of an inspection process integrated with the QM module of SAP ERP and is followed by an explanation:



The inspection process in this figure occurs after goods receipt, as follows:

  1. On activation of an inbound delivery in SAP EWM, the system creates an inspection document.

  2. With the goods receipt posting, the system activates the inspection document and in SAP ERP the system creates a corresponding inspection lot (with inspection lot origin 17).

  3. Based on the inspection lot, the inspectors in the quality department record the result and make a usage decision in the QM module of SAP ERP.

  4. The usage decision is transferred to SAP EWM and the system updates the inspection document with the usage decision.

  5. A follow-up action, for example, putaway, is triggered in SAP EWM based on the usage decision.
