Variant Setting for Archiving You can define the criteria for archiving in the variant for the archiving program.
You can use the archiving object PR_ORDER within the framework of
SAP NetWeaver Information Lifecycle Management
. A prerequisite for this is that you have activated the associated business functions. The system then additionally shows the
ILM Actions
frame. With these actions, you can carry out an archiving in which the retention periods stored in the
Information Retention Manager
are evaluated, for example. Furthermore, you can make snapshots (copies) of data or destroy data that satisfies the prerequisites. For more information, see the

The following options are available:
Document Selection
On the selection screen for the archiving program, under 'Document Selection', you can specify criteria for the selection of the handling units to be archived. The system then selects the super- and subordinate handling units in addition to the handling units directly specified there and carries out the archiving. The number of handling units actually processed can thus be considerably greater than the number of handling units originally selected.
Residence Time
Here you can specify a period that must have elapsed since the last change was made to the handling unit before it can be archived. If you do not enter anything here, the residence time is not checked.
Generate Archive
Select this checkbox if you really want to archive the handling units. If you do not select the box, no archive is generated. Instead, the system merely outputs statistics on the tables that are archivable. In this case, there is no update in archive management.
Deletion Program in Test Mode
If the archived data is not to be deleted from the system automatically after generation of the archive files, choose this option.
The option is ignored if the
Generate Archive
option has been switched off.
