Defining the Screen Layout

Account groups, which contain G/L accounts of a similar type, control the screen layout when creating G/L accounts in the company code-specific area. The screen layout for an account group determines which fields are relevant for that group.

Field Status

You can assign a field status to each field. This is important when creating G/L account master records in the company code-specific area. To avoid the need to give every field a status, fields are combined into field groups.

You can assign the following field statuses to the fields of a field group:

  • Suppress

The field is not displayed when a G/L account is created.

  • Required entry

The field requires an entry when creating a G/L account.

  • Optional entry

An entry in the field is optional.

  • Display

The field is display-only, no input is possible.

    Note Note

You should not use the Display status, since all fields should be available for entry.

    End of the note.

Caution Caution

If you don't assign a field status, the field status Suppress is assigned automatically.

End of the caution.

Features

The screen layout affects not only the creation of G/L accounts in the company-code-specific area, but also the changing of G/L account master records. When you make changes, the system always uses the current definition. For more information, see also Changing the Account Group.

Note Note

The fields Currency and Field status group require an entry. These fields must be included in the master record of the G/L account.

End of the note.
