Description |
---|---|
Languages |
SAP Fiori Client is now available in the following languages:
For more information about localization for SAP Fiori Client, see Supported Languages. |
Fingerprint Authentication |
(Android, iOS) SAP Fiori Client now supports fingerprint authentication. Fingerprint authentication can be used to unlock the datavault instead of the passcode. Fingerprint authentication is built into the SAP Fiori Client by default. It is not necessary to enable it in the Custom SAP Fiori Client, however, if you have enabled Multiple User Support then fingerprint authentication can not be used. For more information about fingerprint authentication, see Understanding Fingerprint Authentication. |
Usage Plugin update | In order for the usage plugin to initialize and collect
information from the SAP Fiori Client, data collection must be
enabled on the SAP HCP, mobile service for development and operations and the user
must agree to the Terms and Conditions to consent to data
collection.
For more information about user consent and data collection, see the following topics: |
Use a QR code to configure a FioriURL | (Android, iOS) During registration, the SAP Fiori Client can use the barcode scanner
to input the FioriURL using a QR code. This feature is enabled by
default.
For more information, see Entering a FioriURL with a QR code |
Custom SAP Fiori Client Performance considerations |
Improve the performance of a Custom SAP Fiori Client application. Performance considerations may not apply to all Custom SAP Fiori Client configurations and actual performance improvement may vary depending on the application and server configurations. For more information, see Custom SAP Fiori Client Performance considerations |
Windows 10 "Redstone" Support (Windows) |
Windows 10 "Redstone" is supported on the SAP Fiori Client beginning with version 1.8. |

Languages |
SAP Fiori Client is now available in the following languages:
For more information about localization for SAP Fiori Client, see Supported Languages. |
Whitelist for No Bridge security feature |
An improvement to the No Bridge security feature now enables you to whitelist additional domains that can access the plugins provided by SAP Fiori Client (or you can disable No Bridge ). Prior to this change, the feature prevented all external URLs from accessing nonessential plugins; only the host of the SAP Fiori URL specified in the application settings could access them. For more information about No Bridge and how to configure the whitelist, see the following topics: |
Attachment handling (iOS) |
With the enhanced iOS Attachment Viewer plugin, when a user taps a link for an attachment (for example, a PDF file) in an app running inside SAP Fiori Client 1.7 for iOS, the Attachment Viewer downloads the file to a temporary folder and displays a preview of the attachment's contents. The user can tap the Share button and then choose a third-party app to open the attachment. After the user returns to SAP Fiori Client and closes the preview, the downloaded attachment file and all related files in the iOS temporary folder are deleted automatically. For more information, see the following topics: |
Configuring the certificate provider |
Updates and improvements for configuring the certificate provider in SAP Fiori Client applications implemented by the FederationProvider Plugin. For more information, see Certificate Provider Configuration for Fiori Client Applications |
Configuration Changes Applied to SAP Fiori Packaged Apps (Android and iOS) |
Changes to the MDM configuration are automatically applied to the SAP Fiori Client app
when the app restarts or resumes. Configuration changes made to
the appconfig.js file are applied to the
Custom SAP Fiori Client after rebuilding the application:

Enhanced Service for the Push Notification Plugin for SAP Fiori Client and SAP Fiori Packaged Apps (Android and iOS) |
To ensure that end users receive notifications regardless of which device they’re using, the Push Notification plugin now sends push notifications to all devices that are registered to an end user's name. In earlier versions of the plugin, notifications were sent to a specific registration ID, which meant that end users operating devices not configured to receive notifications wouldn’t see them. On both the SAP Fiori Client app icon and the Fiori launchpad notifications icon, a badge number appears that alerts end users as to how many unread notifications are available to view. When an end user taps the Fiori launchpad notifications icon, the Notifications view opens displaying all unread notifications, and the badge count is reset to 0. For more information, see Push Notification Plugin. |
Support for Pulse Secure |
Developers can now integrate Kapsel applications with a Pulse Secure VPN solution. The site administrator must configure an HTTP proxy to support Pulse Secure. Support the proxy configuration by modifying the proxyID, proxyURL, proxyExceptionList flags in appConfig.js. The HTTP proxy is currently supported by iOS applications using Basic authentication with SAP Mobile Platform or SAP HANA Cloud Platform, mobile service for development and operations. For more information, see Supporting Pulse Secure. |
Building API bridges for Cordova Plugins for Windows Fiori Client |
To use a Cordova plugin in the Custom Fiori Client for Windows 10, developers must create an API bridge between the plugin and Windows. For more information, see Creating an API bridge Between the Cordova plugin and Windows. |
Multi-User Support (iOS and Windows) |
Any number of users can now be registered to use SAP Fiori Client on the same device. Each user has a unique profile, which ensures that all sensitive, business-related data is stored in a secure data vault for each profile that is registered to use the device. In SAP Fiori Client, this feature is disabled by default, but you can modify the FioriURL to enable it.
For more
information, see Configuring SAP Fiori Client Using URL Query Parameters.
In a Custom SAP Fiori Client, you can enable this feature by modifying the appConfig.js file. For more information, see Enabling Multiple User Support. |
Support for Crosswalk instead of Android System WebView |
Developers can now use cordova-plugin-crosswalk-webview to keep cookies in sync between native and WebView cookie stores. |
SAP Fiori Client 1.6
What's New |
Description |
---|---|
Languages |
SAP Fiori Client is now available in Arabic (ar). For more information about localization for SAP Fiori Client, see Supported Languages. |
Privacy screen |
iOS and Android devices have app switchers that display screenshots of your apps. This is a possible privacy risk for apps that display sensitive information. To enhance the security of data on the device, SAP Fiori Client for iOS and Android includes the privacy screen plugin, which hides application content in the app switcher. For more information, see Privacy Screen. |
Update stored enterprise password in settings |
If a user's enterprise password changes, he or she can now update the password using the SAP Fiori Client Settings screen. This does not actually change the enterprise password; it only updates the password that SAP Fiori Client uses to authenticate to SAP Mobile Platform Server or SAP HCP, mobile service for development and operations. Only the password stored securely on-device in the data vault is changed. When the client attempts to authenticate with the server, if the backend password and the password stored in the client do not match, the user sees an error message. For more information about the data vault, see Logon Plugin. |
Mobile deep linking (Android and iOS) |
A mobile deep link can now be used to open a specific app in SAP Fiori Client from an external source, such as a web page or e-mail message. For more information, see Creating a Mobile Deep Link to an Application in SAP Fiori Client. |
No bridge for non-Fiori content (Windows) |
This security enhancement prevents access to all nonessential plugins in SAP Fiori Client if the WebView URL has a different host than the SAP Fiori URL specified in the application settings. Prior to this security enhancement, it was possible for any page to be loaded by the WebView, and that page would then have access to the APIs provided by the plugins in SAP Fiori Client (such as Contacts). The no bridge security enhancement was added to SAP Fiori Client 1.5 for iOS and Android. With this release, it is also included in SAP Fiori Client for Windows. For more information, see No Bridge for Non-Fiori Content. |
Plugins |
SAP Fiori Client 1.6 for iOS and Android is based on the Kapsel plugins in SAP Mobile Platform 3.0 SDK SP11. SAP Fiori Client 1.6 for Windows is based on the Kapsel plugins in SAP Mobile Platform 3.0 SDK SP12. For a list of SAP Fiori Client plugins for iOS, Android, and Windows platforms, see Kapsel and Cordova Plugins for SAP Fiori Client. |
