Defining End-User Permissions

Prerequisites

  • The area is published and connected to a role.

  • You have Owner permissions for the area.

Context

You grant users access to an area by assigning users, groups, or roles. You can either do this manually or you can specify that all users and groups assigned to any role connected to the area are automatically permitted access at runtime.

You define end-user permissions for top-level areas only. You cannot define end-user permissions for pages or areas that are situated within other areas.

Procedure

  1. Select the area for which you want to define end-user permissions and in the editor dropdown list choose End User Permissions .

A list of portal roles connected to the area is displayed. In the End User Permission column you can see which roles are assigned end-user permission and which roles are not yet assigned.

  2. Choose Edit .

The Assignment of End User Permissions to Areas section is only active if the area is published and connected to a role.

  3. Choose a method by which to assign end user permissions.
    • Assign all roles : Automatically assigns end-user permissions to all roles.

Choose Assign all roles and then choose Save . Any roles that were not yet assigned, are assigned.

    • Manual : Assign specific roles, users, and groups to the area.

Choose Manual . A table appears where you can assign end user permissions manually to roles, users, and groups.

  4. Choose Save .

The assignments appear in the Portal Roles Connected to Area table.
