Product Configuration with the Configuration Engine

The Configuration Engine is the key component in various applications that configure products interactively – for example, in the functions for entering quotations or orders. Applications that configure products and use this component as an alternative or in addition to Variant Configuration include:

  • mySAP CRM – frequently using master data maintained in mySAP ERP .

  • SAP E-Commerce for mySAP ERP

  • Logistics processes in mySAP ERP – optionally for configurable products that are configured in CRM processes using the Configuration Engine .

If you want to use the Configuration Engine to configure products interactively, you must fulfill certain prerequisites with regard to the modeling process and the provision of the data required for the configuration.

The Configuration Engine is also occasionally referred to as the Internet Pricing and Configurator (IPC) or the Sales Configuration Engine (SCE).
