Configuring the McAfee VirusScan Enterprise for SAP VSA

The VSA included in the McAfee VirusScan Enterprise (VSE) for SAP is supported for use with SAP Mobile Platform and the NW-VSI Scan Service bundle.

Context

Prior to configuring the McAfee VSE VSA, it is important that you understand:
  • The McAfee VSE VSA is provided for Windows environments only.
  • SAP Note 1951363Information published on SAP site describes a known issue with the McAfee VSE VSA. McAfee has produced a patch for this issue, and the VSA dll contents of that patch are included in the SAP NW-VSI Scan Service bundle included in SAP Mobile Platform Server.
  • The VSA included in SAP Mobile Platform Server are included for development testing only. Using this VSA will allow the SMP3 Server Virus Scan Service on Windows to be tested against a local McAfee VSE scan engine. You must have your own licensed version of McAfee VirusScan Enterprise for SAP installed on your system.

McAfee AV is supported by the SMP3Virus Scan service using the McAfee VSE VSA or through the patch in the SAP NW-VSI Scan Service bundle included in SAP Mobile Platform Server. The SAP NW-VSI Scan Service is included in SAP Mobile Platform Server as an OSGi bundle .jar file: <SMP_HOME>\Server\plugins\com.sap.security.nw.vsi_2.0.0. If you are using the DLLs contained in the patched McAfee VirusScan for SAP product, skip step 1 below.

To use the McAfee VSE VSA:

Procedure

  1. (Optional) Extract the VSA Native Library found in the NW-VSI bundle .jar file: <SMP_HOME>\Server\plugins\com.sap.security.nw.vsi_2.0.0 into a folder called vsa under the SAP Mobile Platform Server home directory: (This step only needs to be completed if you are using the vsa.dll included in the SAP NW-VSI Scan Service included in SAP Mobile Platform Server.)
    cd SMP_HOME\Server
    jar xvf plugins\com.sap.security.nw.vsi_2.0.0.jar vsa
  2. Enable the VSA in <SMP_HOME>\Server\config_master\com.sybase365.mobiliser.framework.vsi\com.sybase365.mobiliser.framework.vsi.properties.
    1. Open <SMP_HOME>\Server\config_master\com.sybase365.mobiliser.framework.vsi\com.sybase365.mobiliser.framework.vsi.properties.
    2. Set the Active parameter to true:
      vsi.provider.Virus_Scan_Adapter.Adapters.VSA_DEFAULT.Active = true
  3. Configure the VSA Path in <SMP_HOME>\Server\config_master\com.sybase365.mobiliser.framework.vsi\com.sybase365.mobiliser.framework.vsi.properties.
    1. Open <SMP_HOME>\Server\config_master\com.sybase365.mobiliser.framework.vsi\com.sybase365.mobiliser.framework.vsi.properties
    2. Set the AdapterPath parameter:
      If using the DLLs included with the SAP NW-VSI Scan Service provided in SAP Mobile Platform vsi.provider.Virus_Scan_Adapter.Adapters.VSA_DEFAULT.AdapterPath = <SMP_HOME>\\Server\\vsa\windows\\amd64\\vsa.dll

      OR

      vsi.provider.Virus_Scan_Adapter.Adapters.VSA_DEFAULT.AdapterPath = <SMP_HOME>\\Server\\vsa\windows\\x86\\vsa.dll

      If using the DLLs contained in the patched McAfee VirusScan for SAP product vsi.provider.Virus_Scan_Adapter.Adapters.VSA_DEFAULT.AdapterPath = C:\\Program Files\\McAfee\\VirusScan Enterprise Adapter\\McVsa64.dll

      OR

      vsi.provider.Virus_Scan_Adapter.Adapters.VSA_DEFAULT.AdapterPath = C:\\Program Files(x86)\\McAfee\\VirusScan Enterprise Adapter\\McVsa32.dll

  4. Restart SAP Mobile Platform Server for updates to com.sybase365.mobiliser.framework.vsi.properties to take effect.
