You can use this iView to display maintenance-related objects (such as equipment, functional locations, materials, measurement documents, and so on) in the Asset Viewer. The Asset Viewer is a display tool that enables simple navigation through complex object relations. You can navigate flexibly within and between objects, and for certain object types, you can also see and navigate the hierarchical structure of the object.
This iView is divided into several screen areas, the most important of which are the following:
The object navigator
This area displays the most important information about an object on the General
view, as well as its relations to other objects on further views.
The structure view
This area displays an object's hierarchical structure, if available.
For more information about the functions of this application, see Asset Viewer.
You can access this iView from many iViews in the Business Package for Maintenance Worker
.
For more information, see Asset Viewer.
The object navigator is a reusable display tool that has been integrated into this iView.
For more information, see Object Navigator.
Business Context Viewer (BCV) is a reusable tool for embedded analytics that can be integrated into this iView.
For more information, see Business Context Viewer Integration.
You can specify which object types (for example, technical objects, materials, and so on) can be viewed in the object navigator. For each object type, you also specify which views appear on the user interface when an object of that object type is displayed in the object navigator.
You make these settings in Customizing for Plant Maintenance and Customer Service
under .
In the standard delivery, a number of object types are available with defined views and view layouts. For more information, see Asset Viewer.
The following configuration options are available for the structure view:
You can specify which object types can be viewed in the structure view in Customizing for Plant Maintenance and Customer Service

In the standard delivery, the following object types are available for activation in the structure view:
Technical object (EAMS_EQUI
)
Technical object (EAMS_FLOC
)
Material (EAMS_MAT
)
Structure gaps (EAMS_SGAP)
Objects without authorization (EAMS_AUTH
)
This represents object types that users are not authorized to see based on their authorization group in the backend system. If you activate display of this object type in the structure view, then users who are not authorized to see an object type see a dummy object in the structure view. If you do not activate display of this object type, then users who are not authorized to see an object type do not see anything.
The authorization object EAMS_SV
is available to control which objects are visible in the structure view based on user role.
Using the Role Maintenance
transaction (PFCG
),
you can assign authorization object EAMS_SV
to the role in question – for example, the Maintenance Worker
role (SAP_COCKPIT_EAMS_MAINT_WORKER2
) – and then assign the relevant object types to the authorization
object. The display of unauthorized objects in the structure view is then dependent on whether or not the display of object type EAM_AUTH
has been activated as described above.
For more information about role maintenance, see Role Administration.
You can change the icon used to represent a specific object type in the structure view in Customizing for Plant Maintenance and Customer Service
under .
Additional navigation options are available for objects displayed in the Asset Viewer. These are provided through toolbar buttons and context menus. For example, you can add an object to your list of favorites or display the object in the corresponding Web Dynpro application.
You can configure these navigation options in Customizing for Plant Maintenance and Customer Service
under .
For more information about the standard navigation options available, see Asset Viewer and Context Menus in the Asset Viewer.
For more information, see Business Context Viewer Integration.
