About price plans

A price plan is a set of instructions that calculates a cost. It is graphically represented in the software by a tree called a rating tree as illustrated below:

Structure

Before creating a price plan, you need to know:

Creation process

To create a price plan, you must follow several steps. Once you have created a chargeable item package, you can create price plans and charges. The price plan specifies charging formulas for a chargeable item package. For each chargeable item class in your chargeable item package, you can define the rate that will be applied. You do this by putting into place the pricing components with all of the appropriate parameters.

  1. Create a new simulation or open an existing simulation in order to display the price plan window.

  2. Create and identify the price plan.

  3. Choose the currency.

  4. Create and configure all necessary counters: These may be required if, for example, your offer contains a set number of minutes that are allowed for the telephone user or a set number of downloads for content subscribers.

  5. Create and configure all necessary parameters: These may be required for certain elements of a price plan offer that may vary from one user to the next or from one group of users to the next, for example, the amount of time accorded to a subscriber by an internet provider, 3 hours or 10 hours.

  6. Create the decisional tree representation of the price plan by assembling all of the pricing components necessary to define an accurate rating process for the chargeable item package.

  7. Read the price plan if necessary.

  8. Verify the price plan.

  9. Test the logic of the rating process in the price plan using the Trial Run Price Plan function.

  10. Save your price plan: In order to complete a simulation, you need to create other elements; however, if you need to interrupt your work after creating the chargeable item package, you can save the price plan as an XML file, which can be opened later.
