You use the charged item classes to retrieve and configure the information included in the charged items, which are the resulting transactions of the charging process. Through the mapping of a billable item class, this information is then sent to a billing system such as the SAP ERP system or any other external system.
In the graphical user interface of SAP Convergent Charging,
a tree that consists of nodes represents a charged item class. Each node
represents a value whose type can be a string
, a number
, a date
, or a boolean
.
The tree allows you to configure how these values are generated by the
system.
You can create and use charged item classes for:
The SAP ERP system
Any other external system
If you want to send charged item classes to an external billing system or any other external system, you must create the charged item classes from scratch, and then set them up.
Because you know the contents of the transactions resulting from the rating and charging processes, you can define and set up the data of your charged item classes accordingly for retrieving information from the transactions. Your system billing or another system receives and uses this information.
SAP Convergent Charging is integrated with SAP ERP for managing high-volume data. SAP Convergent Charging can:
Produce billable items asynchronously from the charged items
Send the billable items to the SAP ERP system
You must map charged item classes onto billable item classes that SAP Convergent Charging generates automatically. To do that, you create a charged item class from the mapping of a billable item class. Refer to About billable item mapping for more information when using an SAP ERP system.
