Issue Sequence Editing

Use

When planning the issue sequence for a media product, you can use processing functions that allow you to create entries automatically as well as change the sequence manually.

Prerequisites

Media product

The basic information for automatic creation of entries in the issue sequence – the publication frequency and the factory calendar – must be entered in the master record for the media product. The possible frequencies are daily , weekly and monthly.

Customizing

The following function modules are delivered for entering default copy and material numbers in the entries for the issue sequence:

ISM_DELIV_SEQUENCE_COPYNR_SET (copy number, sequence number in year and year number)

ISM_DELIV_SEQUENCE_MATNR_SET (material number and text)

You can change these function modules according to your company’s requirements or use other function modules. The system takes account of function modules entered under the following path in the IMG: SAP MediaMaster DataProductMedia Product MasterMedia Issue GenerationDefine Control Parameters for Issue Sequence.

Creationof entries by copying

Prerequisites:

You already edited the issue sequence of a media product that has the same irregular publication frequency manually and now want to use it as a copying template for a new issue sequence.

You must have created a template media issue whose data is to be used as a copying template when generating new media issues.

Choose Copy .

Enter the following data:

Media product whose issue sequence is to be used as the copying template

Relevant weekdays ( Copy indicator )

Material number of template issue

Choose Assign default issue sequence .

Creationof entries by means of calendar maintenance

You can display a calendar that displays the publication dates in the issue sequence. The publication dates are displayed in various colors, indicating the status of the entries:

Red=planned Yellow=marked Green=active White=outside selection area

You can use the calendar to maintain entries in the issue sequence for media products with an irregular publication frequency. To do this, you should create a template media issue beforehand. Since calendar maintenance locks the issue sequence to manual maintenance, you can activate and deactivate calendar maintenance using the switch.

Choose Calendar .

Choose to activate calendar maintenance mode.

Enter the following data:

Issue variant type for the new entry, for example, magazine

Material number of template issue

To create a new entry, click on the appropriate date in the calendar. To delete an existing entry, choose Delete in the context menu (right mouse button) for the calendar date.

To deactivate calendar maintenance, choose (calendar display) or choose to close the dialog.

Manageentries

You can insert, append, delete and move entries manually in the table for the issue sequence.

In addition, you can take account of exceptional cases, for example by entering alternative standard issue variant types for publication dates that are directly before a public holiday (Saturday edition is actually published on Friday).

Once the issue sequence is complete, mark the required entries for generation of the media issue master records. You can also cancel selection.

To edit the issue sequence, you can use the following functions, which always apply to selected entries:

Entry aid or correction by copying default values defined in the corresponding function modules (see above under Prerequisites ). Data that is not the same as the default values is overwritten.

Define and edit the quantity plan horizon

You can restrict creation of (missing) quantity plan records in the quantity plan by defining the quantity plan horizon in the issue sequence. The system only creates quantity plan records for media issues that are within the quantity plan horizon. You can archive quantity planning records before the start of the horizon. According to the quantity plan horizon, new quantity plan records cannot be created in the archived period. By moving the horizon into the future, you release records for archiving. See also Use of the Quantity Plan Horizon .
