Customizing a Process Instance Title

Use

At design time you can define a pattern for the runtime title of a process instance using process parameters. The runtime values of the parameters that you append to the title text are added to the text and the process instance appears in the worklist with the dynamically set value of the variables.

Prerequisites

You have rights to access and use the design time tools to edit an object.

The process instance has at least one input parameter.

Procedure

In the gallery, select a process template that you want to appear with a customized title in the runtime. Open its design time.
To switch to edit mode, choose (Edit).
Open the Instance Title tab page.
Enable the Customize Instance Title indicator.
You can now create the pattern for the runtime task title. All input parameters that are available in the process context at runtime are displayed in a table.
To add a parameter to the text pattern, select it in the table and choose Append Parameter.
A placeholder for the runtime parameter value is added to the pattern.
Note

So that a parameter can be appended, it must meet the following requirements:
- The parameter is required and is not a list.
- You cannot append an entire structure. You can select individual parameters from a structure that is also marked as required.
To check the validity of the text pattern, choose Verify.
Save your changes using (Save).
