Commercial planning |
|
The way in which commercial clusters have been booked is to be checked to establish which combined booking units are still available for airtime sales or the basic booking units in which commercials can be produced.
This function has a selection and display screen.
Selection
The following selection criteria are available to you on the selection screen:
Booking unit
Date
Sales area
Selection criteria restrict the number of commercial booking units and airing dates that you are offered during planning.
Enter at least one booking unit, publication date and sales area on the selection screen to check the booking of commercial clusters. If you do not restrict the selection further, the system displays all clusters and time slices that you have defined in the master data for the booking unit specified.
Explode by basic or combined booking units
You can display booking of commercial clusters exploded by basic or combined booking units. The system defines explosion by basic booking units as a default setting on the selection screen.
Explosion by basic or combined booking units is irrelevant if you are checking the way in which a basic booking unit has been booked.
Booking of the combined booking unit can be displayed as follows:

Display |
Display a combined booking unit exploded by basic booking units. |
The system displays the booking of a combined booking unit exploded by basic booking units, time slices and commercial clusters. Explosion by basic booking units describes the production view. If you have assigned basic and combined booking units below a combined booking unit, the system does not display these lower-level combined booking units. |
Display a combined booking unit exploded by combined booking units. |
The system displays the booking of a combined booking unit exploded by time slices and commercial clusters. Explosion by combined booking units describes the sales view. |
Example
The
Local North
and
Local South
basic booking units are assigned below the
Local Total
combined booking unit.
Two customers place a commercial in the
Local Total
combined booking unit. Three customers place a commercial in the
Local North
basic booking unit and one customer places a commercial in the
Local South
basic booking unit.
If you display the booking of the
Local Total
combined booking unit exploded by basic booking units, the system displays five bookings in the
Local North
basic booking unit and three bookings in the
Local South
basic booking unit.
If you display the
Local Total
combined booking unit exploded by combined booking units, the system displays eight bookings in the combined booking unit. Advertisers in the
Local Total
combined booking unit are displayed twice since they have placed commercials in two basic booking units.
Selection variants
If the same selection criteria are used several times they can be saved as a selection variant. If you have created and saved a selection variant, you cannot enter the selection criteria manually.
Selection variants are available to you as follows:

Commercial clusters that match the selection criteria are displayed in a hierarchy tree from the display screen.
Sales areas are root nodes in the hierarchy tree. Booking units are first-level hierarchy nodes to which publication dates are assigned at a lower level. Time slices are assigned to each publication date, commercial clusters are assigned to each time slice and bookings are assigned to the commercial clusters.
The system displays the following data for each booking:
Data |
Example |
Item and schedule line data |
Advertiser, schedule line status, length of the commercial booked, keyword, product hierarchy and industry sector. |
General data |
Sales document, item, sub-item and schedule line number If you display a combined booking unit exploded by basic booking units, the system displays the basic booking unit for each booking. |
Advertisers
If more than one advertiser has been entered for a commercial item, the system displays the advertiser who was created in the first position in the advertiser assignment.
If the combined booking unit is exploded by basic or combined booking units, the system displays advertisers for a booking as follows:
If you display the booking of a combined booking unit exploded by basic booking units, the system displays the advertiser once for each basic booking unit, time slice and commercial cluster.
If you display the booking of a combined booking unit exploded by combined booking units, the system displays the advertiser more than once for each time slice and commercial cluster.
Example
The
Local North
and
Local South
basic booking units are assigned below the
Local Total
combined booking unit. Customer A places a commercial in cluster A, time slice
20:00 – 21:00
in the
Local
Total
combined booking unit.
If you display the
Local Total
combined booking unit exploded by basic booking units, customer A is displayed once in cluster A, time slice
20:00 –21:00
in the
Local North
basic booking unit and once in cluster A, time slice
20:00 – 21:00
in the
Local South
basic booking unit.
If you display the
Local Total
combined booking unit exploded by combined booking units, customer A is displayed twice in cluster A in the
20:00 – 21:00
time slice in the
Local Total
combined booking unit.
Airtime
The system displays free, reserved and booked airtime for each commercial cluster, time slice, publication date and booking unit. You have defined free airtime for each commercial cluster and time slice in the booking unit master data.
Free airtime is displayed as follows on the display screen:
Airtime |
Use |
Free |
Airtime that can still be booked. Reserved airtime counts as booked airtime. |
Free reserved |
Airtime that can still be booked. Reserved airtime counts as airtime that has not been booked. |
The system displays free, reserved and booked airtime as follows:
Hierarchy level |
Airtime |
Display the airtime for a time slice . |
The airtime displayed is the total airtime in all commercial clusters in this time slice. |
Display the airtime for a publication date . |
The airtime displayed is the total airtime in all time slices in this publication date. |
Display airtime in a basic or combined booking unit . |
The airtime displayed is the total airtime in all publication dates in this booking unit. |
Airtime in a combined booking unit does not correspond to the total amount of airtime in the lower-level basic booking units but is the airtime in the basic booking unit with the smallest amount of airtime.
Example
The
Local North
and
Local South
basic booking units are assigned below the
Local Total
combined booking unit. 2520 seconds of airtime can be booked in the
Local North
basic booking unit and 1080 seconds of airtime can be booked in the
Local South
basic booking unit. 1080 seconds of airtime can be booked in the
Local Total
combined booking unit.
If you display a combined booking unit exploded by basic or combined booking units, the system displays airtime as follows:
If you display a combined booking unit exploded by basic booking units, the total amount of booked airtime corresponds to the total amount of airtime to be booked in a commercial cluster.
If you display a combined booking unit exploded by combined booking units, the total amount of booked airtime does not corresponds to the total amount of airtime to be booked in a commercial cluster. The total amount of booked airtime can be greater than the total amount of airtime to be booked.
