Vacation Quotas
This document describes the Finnish specific aspects of vacation quotas. For generic aspects of quotas and quota accrual, see Quotas (in Personnel Time Management (PT)).
The Finnish vacation year lies between April 1 of one year and March 31 of the following year. Employees normally accrue vacation quota in one vacation year, and utilize this quota from the next vacation year onwards. In the system, the year in which you accrue vacation quotas is termed as the validity period of vacation quotas, whereas the year in which you utilize the quotas is termed as the deduction period. For more information, see Customizing for Time Management
under .
The standard vacation quotas for Finland are as follows:

Quota Accrual
Quota days are accrued based on the workdays an employee has worked in a vacation year and the number of his or her days considered as workdays. Days considered as workdays are days that are not workdays but based on which you can accrue vacation quota in the same way as you do for workdays. Examples include study leave up to 30 days in a vacation year, and illness up to 75 workdays in a vacation year.
The system grants absences by calculating quotas in each period and increasing the existing quotas by this number. Standard quotas are set up accordingly. You can check the corresponding settings in Customizing for Time Management
under .
In Finland, to create quota for a calendar month, you need to know all workdays and days considered as workdays in that month. For this reason, we recommend that you use the Time Evaluation
(RPTIME00) report to accrue vacation quotas.
To accrue Finnish vacation quotas, the Time Evaluation
(RPTIME00) report uses the Time Evaluation for Work Schedule Deviations
(&MO1) schema and its subschemas.
The Vacation Handling
(TFI0) subschema determines the number of days or hours worked by an employee and triggers the generation of the absence quotas accordingly.
The Increment absence counters
(TFI7) subschema with related subschemas increments time types to record the number of absence days for a specific absence type and to stop the accrual of vacation quotas when an absence has lasted for a specific period per calendar year such as 75 days for absence types for illnesses 0200 to 0280 and 30 days for absence types Study Leave (0430) and Furlough (0920). The TFI7 subschema calls the personnel calculation rule TFI7 to increment the following counters:
AFIX: The counter is incremented each day when the employee has an absence on a working day or Saturday of absence types Illness with certificate (0200), Unpaid sick leave (0205), Illness during vacation (0250), Industrial accident (0270), Accident en route to work (0280).
AFIY: The counter is incremented each day when the employee has an absence on a working day of type Study leave unpaid (0430).
AFIW: The counter is incremented each day when the employee has an absence on a working day of absence type Furlough (0920).
When the employee has a day off no counters are incremented (0).
If you want to create customer-specific absence types, we recommend that you create them by copying the model absence types for Finland and adjust rule TFI7 to use these counters.

report as used in Finland, see Time Evaluation Using RPTIME00.
Quota Deduction
Typically, vacations are taken in blocks of complete weeks. A week-long vacation may thus consist of seven calendar days, six quota deduction days and five vacation days. For example, if one of your full-time employees take vacation for a whole week that has 5 working days and no public holidays, the system will store the corresponding absence record as having 5 absence days, 7 calendar years and 6 quota deduction days. In this example, the 6 quota deduction days result from the fact that each Saturday that is not a public holiday also qualifies as a quota deduction day just like any workday.
The periods in which the quotas can be used by absence (the deduction periods) are often company specific so you need to configure the deduction period according to your company policy in Customizing for Time Management under .
