Swapping Equipment

Use

You want to swap equipment that is at two different installation locations.

This function is only possible for equipment with a material number and serial number.

Procedure

  1. Choose Start of the navigation path Logistics Next navigation step Plant Maintenance Next navigation step Maintenance of Technical Objects Next navigation step Configuration Control Next navigation step Installation and Dismantling of Components End of the navigation path from the SAP Easy Access screen.

  2. In the mode list field, select Swap if the appropriate screen is not automatically displayed.

  3. Enter the following data in the Object 1 and Object 2 group boxes:

    1. Enter either a piece of equipment or a material and a serial number.

    2. Choose Enter .

      The system automatically generates the current installation location of the corresponding piece of equipment.

    3. Enter a reference order, if required.

  4. Select an event type on the Notification tab page.

  5. If you want to simulate the swap of the equipment before saving, choose Check. You can display the search result in a full screen application log. Choose Application Log to do this.

  6. Save your entries.

    Note Note

    You may have to activate the forced swap to override an error message issued by the system. In this case, choose Forced Installation/Dismantling and confirm the message in the following dialog box.

    A forced swap is only possible after the simulation of the swap has taken place.

Result

  • The equipment at two different installation locations is swapped.

    If the corresponding Business Add-In (BAdI) is active, a notification is generated or updated.

  • If a forced swap was used to swap the equipment, a corresponding indicator is set on the Configuration Control tab page in the equipment master record.
