Using the View GHG Dashboard Application

View and analyze a range of GHG data for your organization.

Monitor your GHG emissions, GHG removals, GHG reversals, and carbon credits over time and across business locations. You select one of the four areas, and then you can choose to see an overview with key data, a report with the data in list form and with an export option, or an analytics view that gives you the data in chart form.

The values shown are based on the activities you have defined in the Manage Master Data app and the data published in the Manage Quantitative ESG Data or Manage GHG Data Collections apps. If you are using the corporate carbon footprint booster, you can see the emissions of your organization in this app.

Prerequisites

Before using the app, you need to check the following points:
  • You have created activity types and associated activities in the Manage Master Data app.

  • You have associated emissions to the activities in one of these apps: Manage Quantitative ESG Data or Manage GHG Data Collections.

  • You have migrated the relevant data to the GHG Removals, GHG Reversals, and Carbon Credits measures.

  • If you are using Instance-Based Authorization, you need to configure the policies for the following measures: CO2E_GHG_RMVL, CO2E_GHG_REV, CO2E_CRB_CRDT, and EMS_QUANTITY_CO2E.

  • You have the following role assigned to you:

    • SUS_SCT_Greenhouse_Gas_Recording_Viewer

Application Details

You can obtain emission data from a variety of sources, for example through the corporate carbon footprint (CCF) calculation. View your company's GHG data based on the business location, scope 2 calculation method, and time period options you select in the header. When you open the app, the system displays the most recent period and business locations for which there is some data in the system. You can analyze data for a specific business location, and compare a location's performance over several periods. If data is available only on a yearly or quarterly level, you cannot drill down further.

At the top of the screen you see five KPIs. The first four (GHG Emissions, GHG Removals (Own Operations), GHG reversals (Own Operations), and Net GHG Emissions) show totals taken from the cards you find in the "Overview" sections. The cards themselves give you a breakdown of the dimension values that contribute to these totals. For example, for Scope 1 emissions, the card shows the values from the "Source Category" dimension.

Carbon Credits works slightly differently. The KPI at the top of the screen is for Carbon Credits (Canceled), but the cards in the overview section also include values for carbon credits that are not canceled. So, Carbon Credits (Canceled) is not a sum of all the values you see in the cards. Additionally, the GHG Carbon Credit from Removal Projects and GHG Carbon Credit from Reduction Projects cards give you total values (shown at the top of the cards) and a breakdown by category, not by dimension. Categories can include multiple dimensions, and the same volumes of carbon credits can be counted in more than one category. For example, if you have 1000t of Carbon Credits Verified and 1000t of Carbon Credits from Technological Sinks, it does not necessarily mean that you have a total of 2000t of carbon credits, because some or all of the credits from technological sinks could also be verified, and so on.
