Function documentationInformation System for Product Cost by Period

The information system for the Product Cost by Period component enables you to analyze the data updated to the product cost collectors.

Features

Analysis of Product Cost Collectors

You can view the following data on product cost collectors in the Information System:

  • Values from preliminary costing

When you create a preliminary cost estimate for a product cost collector, the cost estimate is saved with reference to a procurement alternative. You can use the reports for the Product Cost Planning component to analyze the calculated cost of the procurement alternative. However, you view reports on preliminary costing for product cost collectors in the information system for Product Cost Planning rather than in the information system for Product Cost by Period.

In the Product Cost Planning reports, a cost estimate for a product cost collector will also show a procurement alternative.

See also: Preliminary Costing of Product Cost Collectors.

    Note Note

The preliminary cost estimate of a product cost collector does not update planned costs to the product cost collector.

    End of the note.
  • Actual costs

See also: Actual Costs in Cost Object Controlling

  • Target costs

See also: Calculation of Target Costs

  • Work in process

See also: Work in Process in Product Cost by Period

  • Variances

    See also: Variance Calculation

    Note Note

You can't analyze the planned costs of the manufacturing orders assigned to the product cost collector. Although it is possible to determine the planned costs of the manufacturing orders, these costs cannot be updated to the manufacturing orders.

    End of the note.
Accessing a Detailed Report

To access a detailed report, instead of entering an order number enter the material, plant, and characteristic values of the production process (example: material P-105, plant 1000, production version 0001). The system finds the product cost collector through these entries. The report shows you the name of the production process.
