Scheduling a Background Job for Message Store Reorganization

Prerequisites

You have defined the required variant.

Context

The messages processed by the DOE are stored in message store tables. If these tables are not cleaned up at regular intervals, the size of these tables can increase significantly. Therefore, you must schedule a job to ensure that DOE cleans up these tables at regular intervals.

Procedure

Log on to SAP NetWeaver AS and start transaction SDOE_BG_JOB_MONITOR .
Expand Monitoring: Message Store Reorganization .
Choose Schedule Job.
In the Job Name field, enter a name for the job and choose Create Variant. .
Under Reorganize Message Store , in the Days to hold field, enter the number of days you want to hold the messages before they are deleted
Under Error Messages , if you do not want to delete messages that can be restarted, select Keep restartable error messages .
Under Error Messages , if you do not want to delete messages that cannot be restarted, select Keep non-restartable error messages .

Note

If you define a variant and schedule a job by selecting the above two options, then the messages in the message store are not deleted when the job is executed. As a result, the size of the message store tables can increase significantly. Therefore, to ensure that the DOE cleans up these tables at regular intervals, you can define a variant without selecting the above two options and schedule another job with a different time interval.
To hold messages based on message type, messages that are part of a particular SWCV, and messages for particular data objects, select Display advanced options and enter data accordingly.
