Creating the Outer Archive for Patches (.SDA file)

Prerequisites

You have created the inner archive for the patch.

Procedure

Create the META-INF folder and the MCD.xml file.

Note

In the MCD.xml file, the TYPE and RUNTIME property tags must have the values as PATCH and CI respectively. Refer to the following table for the MCD.xml description.

The DOE does not allow you to upload a patch if the patch is dependent on other mobile components and these mobile components are not present in the DOE. So, to upload a patch that is dependent on other mobile components, the DOE, as a prerequisite, must have the dependent mobile components in its repository.

Create the .sda file with the files above.

The .sda file must conform to the standard format shown below:
Upload the client installation archive to the DOE.
Assign the patch to the client devices.

Mobile client users receive the archive during the next synchronization of their client with the DOE.
