Assigning Mobile Components to a Software Package

Prerequisites

You have created a software package.
You have logged on to the SAP NetWeaver Mobile Administrator.

Context

You must assign the mobile components, database, framework, JRE/CrEme, and applications to a software package to ensure that you can roll out devices by using the software package.

Rolling out mobile clients on Laptops

If you want to use a software package to rollout mobile clients on laptops, you must assign the MAXDB, framework, and JRE along with the required applications to the software package.

Rolling out mobile clients on Handhelds

If you want to use a software package to rollout mobile clients on handhelds, you must assign the MinDB and framework along with the required applications to the software package. After you assign this software package to a handheld you must manually install NSICom CrEme 4.1 on the handheld. To do this, refer to SAP note 772334.

Note

The framework that you can assign to a mobile client for laptops is different from the framework that you can assign to a mobile client for handhelds. Therefore, before you assign the framework to a software package, you must:

Navigate to the Mobile Component Administration view in the SAP NetWeaver Mobile Administrator.
Search for mobile components of type FRAMEWORK.
From the search results, choose the required framework.
In the Mobile Component Details, choose the Properties tab.
If the value of the OS Property Type is Win32, then the framework is applicable for laptops. However, if the value is WinCE, then the framework is applicable for handhelds.

Procedure

Choose Administration .
Under Software Package Management , choose Software Package Administration .
In Search Software Packages , enter the name of the software package and choose Go .
From the Search Results , choose the required software package.
In Software PackageOperations , choose Manage Mobile Component .
In Search Mobile Components , enter the required search criteria and choose Go .
From the Search Results , select the required mobile components and choose Assign .

Note

To remove existing mobile components, in Assigned Mobile Components , select the required mobile components and choose Remove .
Choose Done .

If the DM software component version(s) are already assigned to the mobile component, you are prompted to assign the same to the software package.
In Non-conflicting DMSWCVs , select the assign option alongside the required DM software component version.
Choose Save .
