RAS Server

The RAS SDK contains an API for developing web applications that communicate with the RAS server. With the RAS SDK, you can create a client application that interacts with the RAS server and is stored on a separate machine. The application built using this SDK runs inside the web application server and connects to the RAS server through an independent communication channel. Multiple server instances can be configured through this managed platform.

The RAS server offers these capabilities:

• Create Crystal Reports.
• Open SAP Crystal Reports from a local disk or the Central Management Server (CMS).
• Modify Crystal Reports.
• Save reports to the Central Management Server (CMS).
• Process and display reports in DHTML Viewer.
• Report caching to minimize memory and resource consumption. The caching permits quicker reopening and processing of reports used by mutliple simultaneous or sequential users.

The RAS server is one of many SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise servers that facilitate web-based management and distribution of reports across an enterprise.
