Configuring Communication Assemblies

Communication Assemblies (CAs) are UCON elements that group RFC functions with consistent properties.

You can configure CAs using the UCON Browser (transaction UCONCONF).

You can also use the phase management tool in UCON Cockpit (transaction UCONCOCKPIT or UCONPHTL) to create and configure a special CA for Secure Network Communications (SNC). A CA for SNC makes it possible to allow specified remote-enabled function modules (RFMs) for communication only when the corresponding RFC connection is made using the SNC protocol.

Features

The following data is displayed for an existing CA:

  • The name of the CA. The name is assigned when the object is created, after which it can no longer be changed.

  • The canonical URL of the CA. The canonical URL is assigned when it is created, after which it can no longer be changed. However it is ensured that the canonical URL is always unique.

  • The short description of the CA. The language-dependent short description can be changed at any time.

The tab page Administration Data displays the following data that cannot be changed manually but is set by the system.

  • Last Changed By

  • Time of Last Change (Date and time)

  • Name of User who created the object

  • Creation Time (Date and time)

Tab page Subordinate Objects displays the following in a table:

  • Which objects are currently assigned to the CA.

  • Type and name of the assigned object.

  • Type FUNC (which is currently the only that is supported), stands for remote-enabled function module.

On this tab page you can change the list of assigned objects at any time after activating change mode. You can:

  • Add a new remote-enabled function module, or

  • Remove entries from the list.

When adding you can refer to a corresponding selection help.

Saving changes causes an inactive version of the CA to be stored. In order for the changes to be relevant for the runtime, you must activate the CA.

Restrictions

In the current release it is not possible to create and delete CAs (an exception are CAs for SNC). Currently, only Default CA, SNC CA, Default Virtual Host, and Default Configuration are supported in the RFC Basic scenario. Except for the SNC CA, these objects are created in the setup phase. The SNC CA can be created manually when required.
