Activating Replacement Texts
Prerequisites
The languages involved must be imported into the target system for the current release level of your target system.
Enough memory must be available in your system for the database table for the duration of the activation. The following settings are recommended if you use ORACLE:
-
Table BRATEXT
-
InitExt: 16
-
NextExt: 5000
-
MinExt: 1
-
MaxExt: 300
-
-
Index BRATEXT_ _ _0
-
NextExt: 2500
-
MaxExt: 300
-
-
Tablespace PSAPTEMP
-
100 MB free memory
-
-
Tablespace PSAPPOOLD
-
50 MB free memory
-
Also note the Notes for Replacing Short Texts.
Context
You use this procedure to replace terms in the user interface of your SAP system (the target system) with terms used in your industry.
Procedure
-
Log on as user SAP* in client 000 of the R/3 system in which you want to execute the short texts.
-
Call up transaction SE62 and choose .
The screen for activating an industry is displayed.
-
Select the industry for which you want to replace short texts and choose Execute.
-
If you want the system to generate a detailed activation log, enter a directory in which the log should be saved (such as /usr/sap/trans/log). Make sure that you have write authorization for the directory you enter.
If you do not enter any directory, the system creates a short log in the spool list.
-
Choose Continue.
The screen for scheduling background jobs appears.
-
Schedule the activation once for immediate start or for later.
The system deactivates any existing text replacements that are no longer required for the selected industry in the current Release level and then activates the new text replacements. This occurs for all languages in the system for which the language import run contained replacement data.
-
Wait until all background jobs have been completed successfully. You can check this in the job overview ( ).
-
In the command field, enter /$SYNC.
The system resets the buffer, thus ensuring that all texts are displayed in their new form.
Results
Your SAP System user interface contains the terminology used in your industry, rather than the SAP standard terminology.
The user interface of your SAP system contains the terms specific to your industry in place of the SAP standard terms.
You can display the short log of the activation process. To do so, select the background job on the job overview screen ( ) and choose Spool List.
If you entered a directory for the detailed activation log, the log has been saved on the directory under the name BRA<nnnnn>.<SID>, with <nnnnn> being a consecutive number. With every new activation or deactivation log generated, the system increases this number by 1 if the log is still in the directory. <SID> is the name of the R/3 system (such as CIR).
You can display the detailed log using program RSPUTPRT. On the selection screen of the program, enter the full name of the log file (such as /usr/sap/trans/log/BRA00001.CIR) in the Complete file name (with dir.) field and choose Execute.
The return code at the end of the detailed log should be 0 or 4.
-
Return code 0 means that all industry-specific texts were activated.
-
Return code 4 means that texts were not activated for some client-dependent tables in clients other than 000, because, for example, the replacement short texts had been modified.
