Deactivating Replacement Texts
Prerequisites
The replacement data that you used to activate the short texts must still exist in the system for the languages you want to deactivate.
Also note the Notes for Replacing Short Texts.
Context
You use this procedure to deactivate replacement texts in an R/3 system.
Procedure
-
Log on as user SAP* in client 000 of the R/3 system in which you want to deactivate the short texts.
-
Call up transaction SE62 and choose .
The system displays the industry for which industry-specific short texts are currently activated in the system.
-
Choose Execute.
A dialog box is displayed confirming your selection.
-
If you want the system to generate a detailed deactivation log, enter a directory in which the log should be saved (such as /usr/sap/trans/log). Make sure that you have write authorization for the directory you enter.
If you do not enter any directory, the system creates a short log in the spool list.
-
Choose Continue.
The screen for scheduling background jobs appears.
-
Schedule the deactivation once for immediate start or for later.
The system deactivates existing replacements. This occurs for all languages for which replacement data exists in the system.
The system starts the job SAP_BRANCHE_DEACTIVATE for every language. Once the job is finished, it then starts SAP_BRANCHE_DEACTIVATE2.
Replacements are only deactivated if the industry-specific text was not modified. Any terms that you have modified are not changed.
-
On the job overview screen ( ), check that all background jobs were finished successfully.
-
In the command field, enter /$SYNC.
The system resets the buffer, thus ensuring that all texts are displayed in their original form.
Results
The user interface of your R/3 system contains the SAP standard terms in place of the terms specific to your industry.
You can display the short log of the deactivation process. To do so, select the background job on the job overview screen ( ) and choose Spool List.
If you entered a directory for the detailed deactivation log, the log has been saved on the directory under the name BRA<nnnnn>.<SID>, with <nnnnn> being a consecutive number. With every new activation or deactivation log generated, the system increases this number by 1 if the log is still in the directory. <SID> is the name of the R/3 system (such as CIR).
You can display the detailed log using program RSPUTPRT. On the selection screen of the program, enter the full name of the log file (such as /usr/sap/trans/log/BRA00001.CIR) in the Complete file name (with dir.) field and choose Execute.
The return code at the end of the detailed log should be 0 or 4.
-
Return code 0 means that all industry-specific texts were deactivated.
-
Return code 4 means that texts were not deactivated for some client-dependent tables in clients other than 000, because, for example, the replacement short texts had been modified.
