Function documentationImport of Plan Data from Project System (PS)

With this function, you can import data from objects in Project System (PS), into a financial plan, for detailed planning of project resources, quantities, costs, revenues, and margins.

Note Note

Currently, this function only supports the import of quantities from objects such as WBS elements, and network activities.

End of the note.

Prerequisites

  • You have made the necessary settings in the following activities, under Customizing for Start of the navigation path SAP Commercial Project Management Next navigation step Project Cost and Revenue Planning Next navigation step Import Data End of the navigation path:

    • Make Settings for Import Methods

    • Make Settings for Import Strategies

  • You have assigned import strategies to plan scenarios in Customizing for SAP Commercial Project Management, under Start of the navigation path Project Cost and Revenue Planning Next navigation step Define Planning Scenarios End of the navigation path.

  • Objects from Project System (PS) that are assigned to the master project structure contain quantities that you want to import.

Features

  • You can import data for the entire master project structure by selecting a plan version.

  • You can import data for a selected structure element in the master project structure.

  • You can import the following:

    • Quantities from activity elements and network activities

    • Quantities from material components in network activities

    • Quantities from statistical key figures (SKFs) in network activities and WBS elements

The imported quantity and the UoM for SKFs are displayed only in workbooks meant for quantity-based planning.

  • At the import strategy level, you can configure if the valuation of relevant structure elements needs to be carried out after import from SAP ERP to SAP Commercial Project Management. While importing quantity, the plan header dates are adjusted according to the start and finish dates of the Project System (PS) project elements relevant for the import.

    Note Note

When the import is in process, the system locks the plan header screen.

    End of the note.
  • You can simulate the import process and view a log of the results of simulation.

  • You can also view a log of results when the import process is completed.

Note Note

When you subsequently transfer planned data back to the objects, the system overwrites the original quantities in the corresponding object.

End of the note.
Import Methods

In the Customizing activity Make Settings for Import Methods, you make the following settings:

  • Define import methods, the object type from which you want to import data, and how the imported data is distributed across the period of the financial plan.

  • For each import method, define the parameters for importing data from the source object.

  • Decide the execution of import methods based on the status of a financial plan or a plan version.

Import Method

Import Strategies

In the Customizing activity Make Settings for Import Strategies, you form import strategies by assigning import methods and defining the sequence in which each method is processed.
