Creating Precalculation Servers

Use

To precalculate workbooks, you need BEx Precalculation Service for Microsoft Excel, which you should install on a server.

Install BEx Precalculation Service for Microsoft Excel.

Note

We recommend installing BEx Precalculation Service for Microsoft Excel on a server. You can also install it on a client PC.

BEx Precalculation Service for Microsoft Excel is a separate component with its own installation. For more information, see SAP Note 877774.

During installation, the following Windows service appears in the management console:BEx Precalculation Service for Microsoft Excel.
Log on to the BW system on the PC where BEx Precalculation Service for Microsoft Excel is installed and navigate to Customizing (transaction SPRO): SAP Reference IMG → SAP NetWeaver → SAP Business Warehouse → Settings for Reporting and Analysis → Settings for Information Broadcasting → Administrate Precalculation Server.
Choose Create Precalculation Server.
Enter the technical name of the server (max. 10 characters) and a description.
The description is language-dependent and is displayed in BEx Broadcaster when you select a special precalculation server.

The precalculation server - an RFC server from a technical viewpoint - is displayed in the list.

The precalculation server is ready. Its status display is green.
