Creating Broadcast Settings

Use

If you use the precalculation and distribution functions in BEx Broadcaster, you can specify a range of settings. You can define which BEx object to distribute, which distribution type to use and which output format system will generate. You enter information about the recipients and the time or date of the distribution for example.

You specify these criteria in a broadcast setting.

Procedure

1. Start BEx Broadcaster.

2. Under Settings for Object Type, choose the required object type, or the object type that is suitable for the required function (query, Web template, query view, report, workbook).
3. Choose Open.
4. Choose the object required.
5. Choose Apply.
6. Choose Create New Setting.
7. Enter a description for the broadcast setting.
8. Choose the required distribution type and the corresponding output format.

   The following distribution types are available:

   • Broadcast by E-Mail

9. Make the necessary settings on the relevant tab pages.
10. Check your settings if required and choose Save.
11. Enter a technical name for the broadcast setting and choose Transfer (Apply).

    The new setting appears in the overview in the upper screen area in BEx Broadcaster.

12. Execute the broadcasting setting or schedule it:
    • If you want to distribute the broadcast setting immediately, choose Execute.

      A new browser window appears displaying the processing status of the broadcast setting. If you want to close the window, choose Cancel.

    • If you want to distribute the broadcast setting at a specific time or when changes are made to the data, select Schedule.

Result

You have created a broadcast setting using your required settings. The system distributes the selected BEx Objects according to your entries.
