Priority Calculation Based on TimeDepending on the selected view, the CMC calculates priority values on order header level for either all operations in a selected order (general view) or for all operations in one work center (single work center view) from an order. These priority values indicate the urgency of these operations.
In calculating the priority values, the CMC considers that orders/operations may have a bigger time frame than actually required to process them based on the standard duration of all operations in an order (general view), or all operations from an order in a selected work center (work center view). To calculate the value, therefore, and depending on the selected view and the Customizing settings, the CMC uses an absolute value of time left, or a time factor in percent relative to the standard duration for all operations from an order in a particular work center, or all operations in an order.
Example
A customer requires a part to be repaired in the next 10 days. The scheduled end date of all operations in the order is the current date plus 10 days. However, the standard repair time based on the operation times equals 20 hours. If priority value 1 in Customizing has a Time (%)/Unit of <150% of the standard time, and you are in the general view, the CMC schedules the order with priority 1 as soon as the remaining time from the current date till the latest scheduled end date of the complete order is less than 30 hours (150% of 20 hours).
Depending on which view you are in:
The CMC considers all of the operations from an order for the selected work center (work center view) or all of the operations from an order (general view).
The CMC checks whether any of the selected operations in the work center/order are completed, or in progress.
If yes, the CMC calculates the time difference between today and the latest end date of the last selected operation.
If no, the CMC calculates the time between today and the latest start date of the first selected operation.
The CMC then compares this value with the standard duration of the operation(s)/order, and deducts any confirmed work.
The CMC compares this result with the absolute value or the relative time factor in Customizing.
If you have defined relative time factors in Customizing, the CMC cumulates the standard duration of all operations from the order (work center view) or the whole order (general view).
The CMC then sets the corresponding priority value for the selected operation(s)/order.
