CMC Inventory GroupsGenerally serviceable and unserviceable components are held in different storage locations. Depending on the organizational structure of your company, you may have to define more than one storage location or valuation type per rotable condition (serviceable, unserviceable, and so on). You assign storage locations or valuation types of the same type to inventory groups on plant level in Customizing for the CMC.
Note
You must define at least one entry in Customizing even if you only use one storage location or valuation type per rotable condition.
This Customizing activity includes parameters for the ROC calculation of orders with stock-based priorities. These parameters are used as a default by the CMC if:
you have not defined parameters on FFF class level, or
the component does not belong to an FFF class but is part of a manufacturer part number (MPN) set.
Note
You can also define general parameters in Customizing for CMC Profiles . The CMC uses the parameters in the CMC profile, if no other parameters exist or apply.
The ROC calculation determines whether the component is from an FFF class (material level). If so, it uses the parameters that have been set on FFF class level . If not it checks whether the component belongs to a MPN set (plant level). If so, it uses the parameters that have been set on inventory group level. If not the ROC calculation uses the CMC profile parameters for the individual MPN (general level).
Each "group" has some Customizing settings on header level - the parameters are similar to those used in the settings on FFF class level.
You can assign one or more storage locations to each inventory group, and one or more valuation types. However, each storage location or valuation type may only belong to one inventory group.
