Distributed Maintenance

Use

To perform maintenance tasks in a distributed system landscape , the necessary master data and transaction data is distributed between the central system and the decentralized systems. For more information, see Distributed Objects and Distribution of Maintenance Objects .

You can thus trigger and process maintenance tasks both centrally and locally.

Constraints

Note that not all objects are distributed. For example, the following objects are not distributed:

  • Refurbishment order

  • Calibration order

  • Investment order

  • Service order

  • Service notification

  • Vehicle data in equipment

  • Quality management data

We recommend that you create orders of the order types mentioned here in the central system only.

Special Features of the Technical Status in Distributed Maintenance

You can create and change a technical status only in the system that contains the change authorization for the reference object. This is necessary since each time a technical status is created or changed in an order or notification, the system determines the technical status of the master equipment again. This is the only way to ensure that all relevant orders and notifications with a technical status participate in the new determination with their current status.

Caution Caution

If a UPS package cannot be completely posted because of an order or notification with a technical status, we strongly advise you not to include this order or notification in a correction packet.

To ensure the consistency of the technical status, it is compulsory for all orders and notifications with an active technical status to exist in the system together.

End of the caution.
Special Feature of Maintenance Plans

Maintenance plans and their change authorization are always completely distributed. It is therefore not possible to distribute only individual items of a maintenance plan. It is also not possible to submit the change authorization for selected items of a maintenance plan and to not submit the change authorization for other items of the same maintenance plan.

Maintenance plans that are to participate in distribution in a distributed system landscape may only ever be assigned one technical object.

Note Note

By default, the special features of maintenance plans do not apply to the relocation of technical objects. However, in Customizing under Start of the navigation path Defense Forces & Public Security Next navigation step Distributed System Landscape Next navigation step Distributed Maintenance Next navigation step BAdI: Control Transfer of Change Authorization for Maintenance Plans End of the navigation path , you can specify that the relocation of technical objects is also to be covered.

End of the note.
