When you construct assets, you can charge the costs of the materials and services to various objects (asset master records, WBS elements, networks, or CO orders).

The basic procedure is described in Construction of Fixed Assets. It describes how you charge all costs to an “intermediate” asset master record, and then, when you capitalize the asset, transfer the costs to a “real” asset master record. You can however charge costs to objects other than an intermediate asset. The following describes which permutations the system supports.

Prerequisites

Customizing

To be able to settle line items from CO objects periodically to intermediate asset master records for assets under construction, you must have set the investment profile that you use to Line item settlement and list of origins. You can do so in Customizing for Investment Management (IM), by choosing Start of the navigation path Internal Orders as Investment Measures Next navigation step Master Data Next navigation step Define Investment Profile Next navigation step Define Investment Profile. End of the navigation path Note that you do not need to use IM itself.

Master Data

You have created the asset master records as described in Creation of Master Data for Asset Construction.

Features

The cost settlement chains that are supported are as follows:

  • Goods issue to asset under construction → Full settlement to real asset

  • Goods issue to WBS element → Periodic settlement to asset under construction → Full settlement to real asset

  • Goods issue to CO order/network → Periodic settlement to asset under construction → Full settlement to real asset

  • Goods issue to CO order/network → Period settlement to WBS element → Periodic settlement to asset under construction → Full settlement to real asset

  • Direct invoice posting to asset under construction → Full settlement to real asset

  • Direct invoice posting to WBS element → Periodic settlement to asset under construction → Full settlement to real asset

  • Direct invoice posting to CO order/network → Periodic settlement to asset under construction → Full settlement to real asset

  • Invoice posting to CO order/network → Period settlement to WBS element → Periodic settlement to asset under construction → Full settlement to real asset

  • Goods issue to asset under construction → Full settlement to asset under construction → Transfer to real asset
