Determination
The determination function in SAP Incentive and Commission Management (ICM) is a tool to determine object types and object IDs. The objects that are determined in this way can be used in the relevant business process. Specific combinations of characteristics are used
to determine objects. The determination function determines the characteristics combination types (calculating object type
(ROLE_OBJ_TYPES) and calculating object ID
(ROLE_OBJ_IDs)) from a combination of various characteristics that the customer
defines in Customizing for Incentive and Commission Management
in the Construction activity. Examples of objects are performance-related remuneration type, liability type, participation,
and special remuneration.
You can use the determination functions in the following areas of Incentive and Commission Management
:
Liability agreement
Remuneration agreement
Agreement for settlement
Agreement for remuneration scheduling
Agreement for settlement release (actual commission and credentials check)
Construction of participations in the commission case
Entitlement and liability transfer
You can also use the determination functions in SAP Credentialing (CRD).
Note
The determination does not use valuations and bonuses.
To use the full functions of determination, you have to create and generate the selection table(s) in Customizing for Incentive and Commission Management
under .
Then you must edit the determination
for the relevant agreements in Customizing.
You can choose between two determination types in ICM:
Classic determination: Determination based on function modules
Enhanced determination: Pattern-based determination (see Enhanced Determination
)
You configure your required determination type depending on the calculating object type
. For more information, see the documentation in the Implementation Guide (IMG)
for Incentive and Commission Management
under .
You can access the determination functions both in process mode and analysis mode. In analysis mode, you
can choose between the classic determination and enhanced determination. You can use the Analysis of Determination
transaction (CACS_DET_ANALYSIS) to make settings for determination combinations, assignments and certain selection options, based on a selected view of the
data. The transaction can be configured differently for process mode and analysis mode. This lets you test changes in the analysis dialog without affecting the current business processes. When you have changed the settings, you can simulate them in determination analysis mode and
display the results of your changes.
Recommendation
We recommend that you do not use the existing filters for the contract type and standard contract. Instead you should define the filters as fields in the selection table, if these are relevant for the determination process. A validation option is provided to ensure that these fields are not used. However you can still use these filters if absolutely necessary, for instance due to downward compatibility.
