Calling the BEx Query Designer for editing a data sourceLocate this document in the navigation structure

Context

You can access the BEx Query Designer directly from Analysis and open a query that has been inserted as data source in the current workbook.

You can use this function to check the query defintion and to change the definition according to your needs. After saving the changes, you can update the query in the workbook immediately.

Prerequisites for using this function:
  • You use a query as data source.
  • BEx Query Designer with minimum release 7.20 SP10 or 730 SP3 is installed on your client PC.

Procedure

  1. Select a crosstab cell.
  2. Choose Call Query Designer in the ribbon.
    If the icon is not displayed in the ribbon Tools group, you can enable it in the Advanced Settings dialog.
    The Logon dialog for the BEx Query Designer appears.
  3. Enter your logon data and choose OK to log on to the BEx Query Designer.
    The BEx Query Designer is opened and the query selected in the workbook is already open and ready to be edited.
  4. Edit the query definition and save your changes.
  5. In Analysis, select a crosstab cell and choose Reset Data Source in the context menu to display the changed data source.

Results

The data is displayed corresponding to the new initial state defined in the BEx Query Designer.
