Working with ES Repository Web Browser

Use

Apart from the ES Builder, you can also access the contents of the ES Repository by using the Web-browser view. This view enables you to access objects in the repository in a Web browser, without launching the ES Builder.

You use the Web browser to:

  • View interface objects in the ES Repository

  • Manage subscriptions

    You can subscribe, unsubscribe, and edit your subscriptions.

  • Manage lifecycle of objects

    You can change the values of custom attribute of type Lifecycle . For example, change the lifecycle of a service interface from In Progress to Review .

Prerequisites

  • You have installed Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 or higher.

  • You have access to ES Repository system.

  • If you want to manage the lifecycle of objects:

    • You are familiar with the basics of custom attributes.

    • You have the permissions to:

      • Edit objects in the ES Repository. For more information on permissions required to edit objects, see Authorizations .

      • Change the value of a custom attribute of type Lifecycle .

Procedure

  1. Access one of the following URLs and launch the Enterprise Services Repository:

    • http://<server>:<port>/rep

    • https://<server>:<port>/rep

  2. Under Enterprise Services Repository , select Web UI .

  3. In the dialog that appears, enter the same user name and password that you use to log on to the ES Builder.

  4. To manage subscriptions or the lifecycle status of objects, proceed as follows:

Manage Subscriptions

  • If you want to subscribe to an object, proceed as follows:

    1. Search for the object you want to subscribe to and open it.

    2. Click Subscribe .

      A New Subscription dialog appears.

    3. Under Notification Events , select the events for which you want to receive notifications.

    4. To receive an e-mail notification, select one of the following options:

      • Use UME E-mail Address : The system retrieves your e-mail address from the data provided in the User Management Engine.

      • Specify E-mail Address : Enter an e-mail address.

    5. Choose OK .

  • To unsubscribe, proceed as follows:

    1. Select the relevant subscription under My Subscriptions .

      The object that you subscribed to opens in a new browser.

    2. Click Unsubscribe and confirm the pop-up.

  • To edit a subscription, proceed as follows:

    1. Select the relevant subscription under My Subscriptions .

      The object that you subscribed to opens in a new browser.

    2. Click Edit Subscription .

    3. In the dialog that appears, make the required updates and choose OK .

Manage Lifecycle Status

  1. Search and open the object for which you want to change the lifecycle.

  2. Choose Edit .

  3. Under Custom Metadata , change the lifecycle status of the object.

  4. Enter a change list description and choose Save .
