Displaying and Editing Messages for an Integration Process

Use

You can display the messages that an integration process is currently processing. To do so, use the work-item display function.

In particular error situations, you may be required to edit the payload of the message before continuing the process. In this case, you can switch to an editor to edit the message from within the work-item display.

Prerequisites

  • All integration processes that process the message have an error status
  • You have the required authorizations

Procedure

  1. Display the work-item display for the required process.

You can navigate to the work-item display from the transactions for workflow monitoring, for example from the monitor for processed XML messages:

    1. Call transaction SXI_MONITOR.
    2. To only display messages that are processed by the Business Process Engine, select Process-Related.
    3. To display messages from processes with an error status, navigate to the Advanced Selection Criteria tab page, and in the Outbound Status field, select the entry Message Has Error Status on Outbound Side.
    4. Select the link PE for the selected message.

      The workflow logis then displayed.

For more information about the monitoring transaction, see Monitoring the Business Process Engine .

  2. Check whether the user view is selected for the work-item display by choosing Goto  → Personal Settings.

    See: Personal Settings

  3. In the workflow log, select the relevant entry for the process:
    • In the technical view of the workflow log: Entry with node number 1
    • In the user view of the workflow log: Uppermost entry
  4. In the work-item display, navigate to the XML Messages tab page.

The messages are displayed and you can select and display them as required.

  5. To edit the message, choose the icon with the quick info Edit Payload.

When you save, the system performs a check and displays the results in the payload editor. If all changes were successful, you can continue the process with the modified message.
