Process Editor

The process editor is a graphical editor in the Enterprise Services Builder that enables you to define and edit integration processes.

Personal Settings

You can personalize the process editor so that your personal settings are the default settings when it is started. For example, you can show or hide particular screen areas or display the process definition vertically.

Structure of Process Editor

The following graphic shows the structure of the process editor:

Main Menu and Standard Toolbar

Contains the main Enterprise Services Builder menu and standard toolbar.

Navigation Area

Shows the navigation area of the Enterprise Services Builder.

Header Area

Shows the name, namespace, software component version, and status of the integration process. You can edit the description, if required.

Editing Area

Here you define and edit the integration process. The editing area contains the process editor toolbar.

You can switch between the following views:

  • Graphical Definition

    Define and edit the steps of the integration process.

  • BPEL Display

    Display the WS-BPEL or BPWL4WS representation of the integration process and import or export of an integration process. If you have selected automatic updating in the personal settings, any changes you make to the process outline, for example, are visible immediately.

  • Correlation Editor

    Define and edit correlations.

Overview Area

Shows alternative representations of the business process. You can switch between the following views:

  • Process Overview

    Displays the whole integration process or just sections. You can select the section you want to display and its size by using the scroll bar and the orange triangle.

  • Process Outline

    Displays the integration process as a hierarchy. You can insert and edit steps by using context menus.

  • Dependent Objects

    Displays objects that the integration process uses, for example interfaces or mapping programs. You can generate a where-used list for dependent objects. The results of the where-used list are displayed in the output area.

Properties Area

Used for defining the properties of the selected step. Which properties you can define depends on the step type (more information: Step Types ).

Some properties are shown in bold italics, for example the Exception property for the Block step type. This indicates that you can define more than one value line, so in this case, you can define multiple exceptions.

Some properties are shown in bold and have the expand or collapse icon (). This means that you can show or hide the other entries made for this property.

All mandatory properties are indicated with by a question mark (?).

Output Area

Shows messages and the output of further functions. You can switch between the following views:

  • Processing Log

    Shows messages that are displayed when defining the integration process.

  • Tasks

    Displays the results of the integration process check (Integration Process → Check).

  • Search results

    Shows the results of the step search ().

  • WSDL Display

    Shows the data types, message types and so on that are referenced in the integration process definition as a WSDL description. This view is only available when the BPEL view is currently displayed in the editing area.

You can switch between the individual views without the content of a particular view being lost.

Object Area

You can switch between the following views:
