Moving from ADLS Gen1 to Gen2

Due to Microsoft's having ended support of Azure Data Lake Storage Gen1 in early 2024, SAP Cloud Integration for data services will end support of Gen1 in an early 2026 release. We recommend that you move to using ADLS Gen2 instead. For more information, see Action required: Switch to Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 by 29 February 2024 on Microsoft's Azure Updates site.

The overall process for changing a file location datastore from Gen1 to Gen2 is the following:

  1. Create a new configuration on the same datastore, being sure to select Azure Data Lake Gen2 as the version of the Azure Data Lake Storage protocol when doing so, and provide the new ADLS Gen2 information from Azure.

  2. Make the new configuration the default configuration of the file location datastore.

  3. Adjust the data lake on Azure to be a Generation 2 data lake.
